Many residents in our area have received a SCAM TEXT message with an attached picture claiming to have come from Vermont DMV

First, THIS IS A SCAM DO NOT CLICK ON IT, RESPOND TO IT or GO TO THE WEBSITE. Best course of action is to use your phone to block the number, report it as a scam and delete the message.

Always be suspicious of any unrequested text message or email claiming to be from a company, government body or person of authority, especially ones that have links or websites trying to take you to another page.

On this one I blocked the full email link and highlighted some areas that point to this being a scam.

Also, if someone is asking you to pay them through an app, crypto or gift cards its most likely a scam.

If you receive something and are unsure if it real or not, best course of action is not to respond or click on the links. Rather independently locate the real website, phone number or email for whoever the scammers are pretending to be and contact that company/person to verify the legitimacy of a suspicious text/email/phone call.

Scams come in all shapes and forms, please stay vigilant!
