Great to welcome Delegate Phil Hernandez to the Norfolk DOLI office!

Our Regional Directors and Commissioner Jim Frederick had the opportunity to provide a tour of the DOLI offices and discuss our current work initiatives, priorities, and ongoing efforts to serve Virginia’s workforce.

We appreciate Delegate Hernandez taking the time to meet with our team and learn more about the important work happening across DOLI. We look forward to continuing the conversation and collaboration!

👏 Excited to see the incredible impact Kalahari’s newest destination in Spotsylvania will have on Virginia’s hospitality and tourism industry! We’re proud to support projects that create jobs, drive economic growth, and strengthen Virginia!

Kalahari just couldn't keep us away! Last week, we were thrilled to join several Virginia officials on a site visit at Kalahari's newest location in Spotsylvania.

Joined by Virginia Secretary of Labor Jessica K. Looman, Virginia Department of Labor and Industry Commissioner James S. Frederick, and others - we were excited to show off what this property will do for Virginia's hospitality industry.

On September 3, 2026, DOLI is convening a Certified Payroll Work Group to examine the feasibility of a certified payroll reporting portal and database under Virginia’s prevailing wage law. The meetings will be held virtually and there will be an opportunity for members of the public to comment.

📣 Public Comment Period Now Open: Heat Illness Prevention Standard

The public comment period for Virginia’s Notice of Intended Regulatory Action for the Heat Illness Prevention Standard is now open. DOLI encourages all interested parties to review the regulatory action and provide comments.

✅ DOLI is seeking individuals with a range of perspectives, backgrounds, and experience to participate in the Regulatory Advisory Panel (RAP) for Virginia’s Heat Illness Prevention Standard.

The RAP will provide valuable stakeholder input as DOLI works to develop a standard to help protect Virginia workers from heat-related hazards.
