Heads up, Albemarle County drivers!

On September 9 - 10, drivers should expect daytime left-lane closures on westbound Interstate 64 in Albemarle County for tree-trimming operations.

Weather permitting, crews will work Wednesday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. No lane closures are scheduled Friday.

The work zone will be between mile marker 112 and mile marker 107. The left shoulder and left travel lane will be closed while crews complete the work.

Motorists should expect delays and be alert for changing traffic patterns. Drivers will see advance-warning vehicles alerting them to slowed or stopped traffic approaching the work zone.

Drivers should use caution near the work zone and be alert for crews near the travel lanes.

Traffic Alert: Travelers heading to the Hillsville Flea Market during Labor Day weekend should be prepared for considerable traffic delays. The town’s popular event will be held Friday, September 4 through Monday, September 7, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. People not attending the flea market are encouraged to avoid the area altogether.

Thousands of visitors are expected to converge on a one-mile section of Route 58 Business in Hillsville. As a result, sidewalks will be crowded with pedestrians and bumper-to-bumper traffic will be moving at a crawl throughout the area.

Drivers should use extra caution, watch for police directing traffic and pay attention to electronic message boards in the area. For the most current traffic and road work information, call 511 or visit 511.VDOT.Virginia.gov.

Happy ! 🪄

You've boarded the Hogwarts Express and the sorting hat is about to put you in your driving house!

🦁 Gryffindor Drivers are brave and bold. Sometimes a little too bold. You take the lead, but remember courage also means knowing when to slow down.

🦅 Ravenclaw Drivers are smart and aware. You plan ahead, follow the rules, and always know the safest route. 10 points for defensive driving!

🦡 Hufflepuff Drivers are patient, kind, and courteous. You let others merge, respect pedestrians, and keep the roads friendly for everyone.

🐍 Slytherin Drivers are ambitious, and efficient. You know how to get where you're going. Just don't let impatience lead to risky moves.

Where did you get sorted?
