Project MARC - Making A Real Commitment 25 At the request of Ms. Along with professional opportunities and internships, Tamara gained lifelong friendships from other participants in Project MARC.

rtive services to girls (ages 8-17) and women (ages 18-30) transitioning from dependency to self-sufficiency through life skills development training, mentoring, and support. Project MARC (Making A Real Commitment) 25 aka Project MARC 25 was founded by Tamara (Tammi) Edwards, an inspirational and courageous woman who completed the original Project MARC Program led by Jerri McKinney, over 25 years ago that provided assistance with childcare, transportation, books and supplies for vocational training, held weekly peer support groups, and social excursions to support single mothers (and their children) with their transition from dependency to self-sufficiency. With the original Project MARC’s support, Tamara completed the Regional Occupational Programs Office Skills/Administrative Training Program, an internship in Congressman George Miller’s Office, and became a receptionist at the City of Hercules. McKinney, Tamara was instrumental in securing additional funding for Project MARC by sharing her success story at a meeting with the state of CA funding agency. She has also followed the example of the program by mentoring young women who intern in her office, providing them with life skills and professional development coaching. After overcoming many challenges in Tamara’s life she has discovered her life purpose , which is to give back to the girls and women in her community with various obstacles/challenges to overcome. She feels that through continued love and support all girls and women can "Create and Live A Life YOU Love". Project MARC 25's Motto is "1st make a commitment to show up for YOURSELF and then show up for your Children/Family and Community - when a person transforms their life the entire community benefits." Program Description:
The Girls Friendship Circle addresses exclusion, intolerance, and feuding. Confronts relational aggression and shores girls up with strong interpersonal skills; knocks down barriers to pride, confidence, and empathy. Themes include topics such as "Being Included, Being Left Out," & "Feuds, Followers, & Fairness." Increases caring and relational competence.
