Our Story
Project MARC (Making A Real Commitment) 25 aka Project MARC 25 is a social service - 501(c)(3) Non-profit Organization that provides supportive services to girls (ages 8-17) and women (ages 18-30) transitioning from dependency to self-sufficiency through life skills development training, mentoring, and support.
Project MARC (Making A Real Commitment) 25 aka Project MARC 25 was founded by Tamara (Tammi) Edwards, an inspirational and courageous woman who completed the original Project MARC Program led by Jerri McKinney, 25 years ago that provided assistance with childcare, transportation, books and supplies for vocational training, held weekly peer support groups, and social excursions to support single mothers (and their children) with their transition from dependency to self-sufficiency.
With the original Project MARC’s support, Tamara completed the Regional Occupational Programs Office Skills/Administrative Training Program, an internship in Congressman George Miller’s Office, and became a receptionist at the City of Hercules. At the behest of Ms. McKinney, Tamara was also instrumental in securing additional funding for Project MARC by sharing her success story at a meeting with the state of CA. Along with professional opportunities and internships, Tamara gained lifelong friendships from other participants in Project MARC. She has also followed the example of the program by mentoring young women who intern in her office, providing them with life skills and professional development coaching.
After overcoming many challenges in Tamara’s life she has discovered her life purpose, which is to give back to the girls and women in her community with various obstacles/challenges to overcome. She feels that through continued love and support all girls and women can "Create and Live A Life YOU Love". Project MARC 25's Motto is "Creating Leaders" - paypal.me/projectmarc25
