Yesterday was a good day for IUPD-East. First, Brad Smoker was recognized for his recent promotion to Lieutenant, Chief Dunning was recognized for his 25yrs of service and Officer Tim Swift was recognized for his 20yrs of service. Then our two newest graduates of the IU Police Academy Johnny Fike and Gabby Mitchum were sworn in.

Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with Detective Greg Ferency, a 30 year Veteran with the Terre Haute Police Department was shot and killed today in the line of duty. Detective Ferency was assigned to the FBI Taskforce on behalf of the Terre Haute Police Department. The FBI is leading this investigation. Please keep the Ferency family in your prayers. 🖤💙
