🐾🛍️ Learning was in stock at Dash Mart today! 🛍️🐾

The Dash Experience came to life as our first graders put their math skills to work in their very own classroom store! Students used their earned Hurd Bucks to shop, compare prices, count money, make purchasing decisions, and decide whether to spend or save.

Our student employees stepped into leadership roles, helping shoppers with merchandise and working the register. At closing time, students counted the day’s earnings and discovered that Dash Mart brought in an impressive 137 Hurd Bucks!
What may look like a classroom store is an opportunity for students to practice math, financial literacy, communication, responsibility, decision-making, and student ownership in an engaging, real-world setting.

And, of course, no Dash Experience Friday would be complete without Dash heading home with Christian for a weekend adventure!
At Dash Mart, students are learning to earn it, save it, and spend it wisely!

📚✨ Who says a storybook can’t be 5th grade level?! ✨📚

Today, Mrs. Valdez’s class took an old favorite from our younger years and gave it a 5th grade twist!

We practiced taking the ideas and information we have in our brains and turning them into strong, complete written responses on paper. We also worked on the important skill of restating the question so our answers are clear, complete, and directly connected to what we’re being asked.

Our students also had the opportunity to collaborate with their peers, sharing ideas, discussing their thinking, and learning from one another before putting their thoughts into writing.

It may have been a familiar story, but the thinking was anything but “little kid”! These students were thinking deeply, discussing their ideas, and putting their thoughts into writing.

We love showing them that great thinking can happen with ANY book—sometimes, the simplest stories give us the best opportunities to practice big skills!

CALLING 4TH/5TH GRADE PHOTOGRAPHERS...If you are interested in learning what it takes to capture the moments in time with a camera as well as be a critical part of putting together our school yearbook, we need you!!! We are starting our first ever Photography Club with ONLY 10 students. Students must complete an application (with parent permission). Applications are available in the front office. Deadline is September 11th.
