NARR is honored to welcome as their special guest Dona Dmitrovic, Acting Director of the Office of Recovery at SAMHSA, who will be sharing her insights.

The NARR Faith-Based Community of Practice is a new official committee of NARR (https://narronline.org/) that champions best practices for recovery for faith leaders and communities, and hosts this webinar series.

This monthly webinar series takes place on the 3rd Friday of each month from 11am-12pm EST, and will feature national and regional leaders in the substance use disorder recovery space who will share their insights about recovery for persons of faith, faith leaders and faith communities and organizations.

Over the past two days, VARR had the honor of attending and presenting at the VADOC ReEntry Summit.

As part of the "ReEntry Essentials" segment, Bob presented on VARR, the importance of recovery residences for individuals with substance use disorder, and how VADOC staff can navigate recovery residence referrals to find the best fit for the individuals they serve.

Our office has been working with Kathy and Homebuddies since they started in 2023 - it's been inspiring to watch the recovery residence evolve and grow. It's always a joy to witness an operator solidify roots, sustain and continue to provide critical recovery residence services to their community.

We caught up with Chuck today for an on-site review, he is the Men's Program Director for the McShin Foundation. They recently opened a new men's recovery residence.

The McShin Foundation will be hosting their 22nd Annual Recovery Fest on September 19 from 12pm-4pm (details in the flyer).

Throughout our years of accrediting Recovering Hands Women's Extended Care Center Substance Use Solution, they have been working hard towards opening their "Recovery Hall". This year that vision came to fruition - it is now open and functional with increased space for life skills development, peer support, yoga, events and more. Congratulations!💜

Located in Nathalie, Virginia, Recovering Hands is dedicated to providing support and residential extended-care to women suffering the effects of substance abuse.

Congratulations Zoe Freedom Center 🎉💜

Located in Fredericksburg, they recently achieved VARR accreditation for the first time on a NARR Level 3 residence and a NARR Level 2 recovery residence that each serve women seeking recovery.

Zoe Freedom Center is a Christ-centered, nonprofit recovery organization dedicated to helping individuals find lasting freedom from substance use disorder through hope, healing, and community. Their residences provides a safe, substance-free environment where women can strengthen their recovery through peer support, accountability, life skills development, employment readiness, trauma-informed care, community engagement, and individualized recovery planning.

In addition to their recovery residences, Zoe Freedom Center serves both men and women through their Education & Resource Center, offering peer recovery support, recovery coaching, case management, support groups, family support, recovery education, referrals to treatment and community resources, and faith-based encouragement for those who desire it.

VARR Executive Director, Bob de Triquet, pictured with the team from Warren Coalition. Located in Front Royal, the Warren Coalition recently achieved VARR Accreditation for the first time on all three of their recovery residences.

During our time together, James from the Warren Coalition shared a key insight: "We want our residences to feel like homes, not like the institutions that many of us come from before the recovery house." It's this philosophy that is embodied in the NARR Standards and social model recovery living environments.

Earlier this week, we had the privilege of joining the Rockbridge Recovery team for on-site reviews at their two recovery residences. Based in Buena Vista, Rockbridge Recovery provides vital local services, including a drop-in recovery center, peer support groups, and community resources. Additionally, they bring the message of recovery directly to their local regional jail.

Congratulations Georgia's Friends!

Earlier this month, Georgia's Friends completed the necessary steps to transition from providing NARR Support Level 2 recovery housing to achieving NARR Support Level 3 at their recovery residences in the Charlottesville area.
