Richwood Volunteer Fire Department responded alongside Brazoria Fire Department and several other area departments to assist with a brush fire near County Road 306. Crews worked together using drone support to monitor the fire, locate hot spots, and manpower and equipment where they were needed most.

Incidents like this show the importance of teamwork between neighboring fire departments and the need for dedicated volunteers throughout our county.

🔥 Mutual Aid Response – Grass Fire | August 21, 2026

At 1736 hours yesterday, our department provided mutual aid to the Angleton Fire Department on a grass fire. We were joined by units from Lake Jackson Fire and Danbury Fire in a coordinated effort that limited the burn to approximately 3–5 acres of field.

Our thermal drone was deployed to search for remaining hot spots. Our brush truck was used for fire suppression, and our tanker supported water supply operations on scene.

Great teamwork by all agencies involved. Proud of the professionalism shown across the board.

Think you have what it takes to train like a firefighter? 🔥🚒

This past Thursday the Richwood Fire Department opened its doors for Physical Fitness Drills, and it was awesome seeing community members come out, get after it, and test themselves on the station’s fitness course!

We put everyone through the same functional strength, endurance, and agility movements our firefighters use to stay job-ready. People of all fitness levels jumped in, tried the obstacle course elements at their own pace, and got to meet the crew.

Huge thank you to everyone who showed up, worked hard, and brought that great attitude. Y’all made the night a success!

We’re already looking forward to the next one. Keep an eye out for the date — we’d love to see even more of you out here training with us and learning what it takes to serve the community.

Firefighter Friday | This week, we’re kicking off our spotlight series within Firefighter Friday with Captain Tony Yarrington, who has served with the Richwood Volunteer Fire Department for 9 years!

Like many of our volunteers, Tony has a full-time career outside of the department, working as an operator and industrial firefighter. His journey into the fire service began after Hurricane Harvey, and he says one of his favorite parts of serving Richwood is “inspiring and showing people that anyone can achieve a goal if they try.”

For Tony, some of the proudest moments in the fire service come from simply being there to help someone on their worst day.

Favorite apparatus: Engine 1 - it’s got lights and sirens.
Outside the station: Spending time with family and working on his Jeep
Words to live by: “Never stop learning.”

And there’s one thing Tony wants the community to know about the Richwood Volunteer Fire Department: We are always looking for more members!

Our volunteers are your neighbors, friends, coworkers, and community members who choose to step up and serve. If you’ve ever wondered whether you could do it, Tony has some pretty good advice: Anyone can achieve a goal if they try.

Yesterday the Richwood Volunteer Fire Department responded to a mutual aid call to assist our neighbors at the Lake Jackson Fire Department with a residential structure fire.

Engine 1 responded to the scene with 2 of our dedicated volunteers to assist with fire suppression and scene operations.

Incidents like this serve as a powerful reminder of how important strong community partnerships are. When emergency calls come in, neighboring departments seamlessly come together to keep our communities safe. Great job and thank you to Lake Jackson FD and all responding units for the swift, coordinated response!

Richwood Fire Department was proud to host the Brazoria County Firefighter Association meeting, and we want to extend a huge thank you to Lonestar Bbq Richwood Tx and Kenjo's Barbecue for their generous donations to the Brazoria County Firefighter Association raffle.
