Friends of the Ridgecrest Branch Library The FRBL, is a non-profit group established to support the Ridgecrest Branch Library. We buy furniture, equipment, supplies and books!

Our mission is to create a library experience which improves the quality of life of everyone in the region. The Friends of the Ridgecrest Branch Library (FRBL) is the charitable group for the Ridgecrest branch of the Kern County Library system. We raise funds and awareness of and for the library. We host an on-going used book sale at our book storage facility, Wednesdays 1 to 3pm. and two or more

larger book sales each year. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit group which can accept donations. Most donations are in the form of books from individuals, but we also receive donations and grants from individuals and charitable groups. The FRBL funds provide many of the materials (books, CDs, magazines, etc.) and programs, such as the children's summer reading program, as well as equipment and furniture. We also have a Rural Library Relief Fund to provide cash relief to rural library staff affected by the Covid virus. We are also forward thinking in looking at ways to benefit the library for the long term. We are exploring expansion of the library, and possible ways to obtain dedicated long-term funding for the library.

We had a fantastic time networking with the Friends of the Ridgecrest Branch Library and we loved seeing so many connections being made. Events like these are a great reminder of the strength and collaboration within our local business community.

Our new lighted sign was just installed over our door. This sign faces the parking lot for the soon-to-be-open Ale’s restaurant. Hopefully, this will help spread the word about our great little book and thrift store. Our recently installed signage on China Lake Blvd must be helping, because almost a third of our Saturday customers were first timers.
