Skip the unnecessary plastics. Make plastic utensils available by request only. Help tell our lawmakers by clicking the link:
Please tell your New Jersey legislators to vote YES on "SKIP THE STUFF" (S3195 / A5157)
Every year, people throw away mountains of single-use plastic utensils, and packets of ketchup, soy sauce, mayo, mustard, relish and more, often unused. These items fill our kitchen ‘junk drawers’, cost businesses unnecessary expenses, are too small to be recycled, and pollute our waterways, beaches, woods, parks, and our health. Plastic never biodegrades but breaks into smaller and smaller micro and nanoparticles that leach toxins into the air, land, and water and can make us and our wildlife sick.
The good news is that the NJ Legislature is about to vote on a bill called Skip the Stuff (Senate 3195 / Assembly 5157) which will prevent restaurants and other food service businesses from providing single-use utensils, straws, and condiment packages to customers, except upon request, and also requires certain food service businesses to provide reusable, washable utensils to customers who are dining on site. This legislation will reduce unnecessary single-use trash and toxic exposure from plastics, while cutting costs for businesses and municipalities.
Your Legislators need to hear from you now!
