George is an avid user of iNaturalist and has been cultivating knowledge about local plants and wildlife for many years.

Prior to the program, install the iNaturalist app on your phone, create an account, and join Teaneck Creek Conservancy under “Projects”.
Seek by iNaturalist is available for younger participants.
Registration recommended.

Teaneck Creek Conservancy and Teaneck Public Library are hosting a special author visit: A Conversation with Ryan Goldberg, author of Bird City: Adventures in New York’s Urban Wilds.

About Bird City: Adventures in New York’s Urban Wilds
Journalist Ryan Goldberg takes readers on a yearlong journey through all five boroughs of New York City, revealing the surprising abundance of birdlife thriving amid skyscrapers and subways. Inspired by his own “spark bird” moment, Goldberg explores how more than 400 species migrate through the city each year - more than in Yellowstone - and introduces the passionate community of urban birders who follow them. Both informative and uplifting, Bird City invites readers to slow down, look up, and discover the wild wonders hidden in plain sight.

Registration required. Register directly with Teaneck Public Library https://bccls.libcal.com/calendar/teanecklibrary/bird-city

Skip the unnecessary plastics. Make plastic utensils available by request only. Help tell our lawmakers by clicking the link:

Please tell your New Jersey legislators to vote YES on "SKIP THE STUFF" (S3195 / A5157)

Every year, people throw away mountains of single-use plastic utensils, and packets of ketchup, soy sauce, mayo, mustard, relish and more, often unused. These items fill our kitchen ‘junk drawers’, cost businesses unnecessary expenses, are too small to be recycled, and pollute our waterways, beaches, woods, parks, and our health. Plastic never biodegrades but breaks into smaller and smaller micro and nanoparticles that leach toxins into the air, land, and water and can make us and our wildlife sick.

The good news is that the NJ Legislature is about to vote on a bill called Skip the Stuff (Senate 3195 / Assembly 5157) which will prevent restaurants and other food service businesses from providing single-use utensils, straws, and condiment packages to customers, except upon request, and also requires certain food service businesses to provide reusable, washable utensils to customers who are dining on site. This legislation will reduce unnecessary single-use trash and toxic exposure from plastics, while cutting costs for businesses and municipalities.

Your Legislators need to hear from you now!
Please use this link and fill out the form to urge your state legislators to vote yes on Skip the Stuff (S3195 / A5157)... Then please share this link and ask your friends to do the same.
