At approximately 2059 hours, the Ridgefield Fire Department was dispatched mutual aid to the Borough of Palisades Park for a confirmed commercial structure fire. Upon arrival, Engine 2 was assigned to supply water to Cliffside Park Truck 2. After completing the water supply assignment, the crew of Engine 2 stood by as the acting FAST team while fire suppression operations continued. Units operated on scene for approximately two hours before being released and returning to service.The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Palisades Park Fire Prevention Bureau.

At 1:33 AM, the Ridgefield Fire Department was dispatched to a reported dumpster fire. Upon arrival, crews found brush and debris actively burning. Crews worked for approximately three hours to bring the incident under control and complete overhaul operations. The Ridgefield Fire Department would like to thank North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue for their assistance on scene.

Members of the Ridgefield Fire Department trained last night on vehicle extrication operations, working through realistic rescue scenarios to improve efficiency, coordination, and communication. Drills like these are essential in maintaining the skills needed to protect our community during emergencies.

At approximately 10:19 AM, the Ridgefield Fire Department was dispatched to Carlstadt to provide coverage for the borough, along with Secaucus Engine 2, while crews operated at a 4th alarm fire.

While covering the borough, Engine 2 responded to an activated fire alarm assignment. Members remained on coverage detail for approximately 3 hours.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Carlstadt Fire Prevention.

At approximately 14:56 hours, the Ridgefield Fire Department was dispatched to the west side of town for a reported structure fire.

Crews arrived on scene and quickly worked to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes, preventing further extension.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Ridgefield Fire Prevention.

We would like to thank all mutual aid companies for their rapid response and assistance, as well as the Countywide Rehab Unit for providing support to our members on scene.

Today marks 17 years since the unexpected passing of Battalion Chief Vic Fugnitti. Chief Fugnitti was an incredible asset to the Ridgefield Fire Department and was known for always putting others before himself.

He was an outstanding mentor, a loyal friend, a devoted family man, and a brother to everyone he met. His impact on our department and community will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Chief. Your legacy lives on.

High school students looking for community service hours can help keep our town safe by shoveling out fire hydrants after snowstorms.

Any hydrant shoveled by a student will receive verified community service hours from the Ridgefield Fire Department.

30 years ago today, on the morning of February 11th, 1996, at 11:22 hours, Ridgefield Fire Department Firefighter Michael McLaughlin responded to a general alarm of fire (FDID 0249, Incident No. 96-047) at 432 Bergen Boulevard in the Borough of Ridgefield.

On that day, Firefighter McLaughlin made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while serving the residents of Ridgefield. His courage, dedication, and selfless commitment to protecting others represent the very best of our department and the fire service.

Today, the members of the Ridgefield Fire Department pause to honor and remember Firefighter Michael McLaughlin. His sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his legacy continues to live on in the traditions, pride, and brotherhood of this department.

Rest easy, Firefighter McLaughlin. We have the watch.
