The Jasper County Sheriff's Office D.A.R.E. Summer Camp kicks off June 23-July 10, hosted by our School Resource Officers. This is a great opportunity for students to stay active, make new friends, and learn valuable life skills during the summer break.

It's not too late to enroll! The camp is open to students entering 4th through 9th grade.

Jasper County County-Wide Reassessment:

Reassessment notices will be mailed on June 11, 2026. Please note that this notice is not your tax bill and does not indicate the amount of your future tax bill. The notice is intended to provide important information regarding your property assessment, including:

1. Owner’s name and mailing address
2. Property tax classification
3. The assessed value of your property

When you receive your notice, please review the information listed on the right side of the form, including:

• Tax Map Number
• Current Market Appraisal
• Current Taxable Appraisal

The Current Market Appraisal reflects the total market value of your property. The Current Taxable Appraisal is the value used to calculate your property taxes.

After receiving your notice, you may contact our office with any questions or concerns. Property owners will have until September 9, 2026, to appeal or dispute assessed values. After this deadline, no further changes can be made to the 2026 Tax Bill.

A sample copy of the notice has been attached for reference.

These reassessment notices are required by the State of South Carolina and will be mailed to all Jasper County property owners. Please allow adequate time for delivery. If you do not receive your notice within a reasonable timeframe, please contact our office.

We had a great time stopping by the Ridgeland Claude Dean Airport today to visit the Aviation Summer Camp and see our future aviators in action!

Throughout the week, 6th and 7th grade students have been exploring the exciting world of aviation, learning about careers, aircraft, and the many opportunities available in the industry.

This opportunity was made possible through a partnership between SkyBlue Aviation at the Ridgeland Airport, the Jasper County School District, and Propel Aviation Center, whose team helped lead the camp and inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.

🚧 Railroad Crossing Maintenance Notice 🚧

CSX Transportation has announced a railroad track maintenance project that will take place in Jasper County beginning Monday, July 13, 2026, and is expected to continue through approximately July 31, 2026.

As part of this project, new railroad ties will be installed along portions of the CSX Jesup Subdivision. During the work, some railroad crossings throughout Jasper County may be temporarily closed for 2 to 5 days, depending on the type of maintenance being performed. Please note that crossings will not be closed for the entire duration of the project.

Closure schedules are subject to change due to weather, equipment needs, and other field conditions. CSX has indicated that they will work to keep one-way-in/one-way-out crossings accessible within 24 hours whenever possible.

To help residents stay informed, CSX has provided an interactive map with real-time updates on crossing closures and project progress:

Map Legend:
Black Train Icon – Railroad crossing location
Purple Star Icon – Starting location of railroad tie crews
Pink Three Dots Icon – One-way in/out crossings
Blue Flag Icon – Flagging operations (not full road closures)

Once work begins:
Orange X – Crossing currently closed
Green Check Mark – Crossing reopened
Yellow Caution Icon – Schedule change or updated information

We encourage residents to check the map regularly and plan travel routes accordingly throughout the project.
