Important Update: Vehicle Registration ID Requirements:

Jasper County was notified today that the SCDMV will no longer accept a Passport as a valid ID when registering a vehicle.

When registering a vehicle, a valid driver license is now required.

Because of the SCDMV changes, Jasper County will no longer accept a Passport as a valid ID and will be requiring a valid driver license to register a vehicle.

Due to the success of our first Citizens Police Academy earlier this year, we’re excited to announce that registration is NOW OPEN for our 2026 Fall Session!

Starting Tuesday, September 15, we’ll meet once a week for 8 weeks for a free program that gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the people who make it all happen.

We’ll cover a variety of topics, including patrol operations, K9, the Detention Center, School Resource Officers, investigations, narcotics, and more. You’ll get a chance to learn about what we do, meet some of the people behind the badge, and see a side of the Sheriff’s Office you may not normally get to experience.

Jasper County has been made aware of fraudulent emails being sent to Planning Commission applicants requesting additional payment by wire transfer.

Please remember:

✅ All Planning Commission application fees are paid in full at the time of application by cash or check.

❌ Jasper County will never request additional fees for a Planning Commission application after it has been submitted.

❌ Jasper County will never request or accept payment by wire transfer.

If you receive an email requesting additional payment, or if you’re ever unsure whether a communication is legitimate, do not send money or provide any financial information.

Instead, contact the Jasper County Planning & Building Department directly at 843-717-3650 to verify the request.

Please help protect others by sharing this post so applicants and community members are aware of this scam.
