The Ridgeland Police Department is proud to recognize Detective Tate as our Officer of the Month for July 2026.

During the month of July, Detective Tate investigated a series of auto burglaries in which multiple victims had property stolen. Through outstanding investigative work, Detective Tate identified both the suspect and suspect vehicle, leading to the suspect’s detention and arrest.

Detective Tate’s thorough investigation resulted in a full confession and the recovery of multiple stolen items, allowing property to be returned to the victims.

His initiative, persistence, and exceptional investigative skills brought a serial offender to justice and demonstrated his commitment to protecting and serving our community.

Please join us in congratulating Detective Tate on this well-deserved recognition as Officer of the Month!

Detective Mitch Tate was recognized during last night’s board meeting as Officer of the Month. Congratulations, Detective Tate!

The overwhelming support for Cpl. Ryan Stacy's recovery cannot be described with simple words. Our community is the best there is. Thank you so much to Southern Outdoors Unlimited and everyone else who has supported Cpl. Stacy in his recovery.

Cpl. Ryan Stacy with the Ridgeland Police Department was driving on the Natchez Trace in the early morning hours of April 26th during a storm when he collided with a downed tree in the roadway while on duty.

Cpl. Stacy was severely injured. He had a torn aorta, torn spleen, broken right arm, broken femur and foot. He also shattered his pelvis on both sides.

Southern Outdoors Unlimited recognizes the enormous task our first responders face every day in keeping our communities safe.

Yesterday members of SOU were able to meet Cpl. Stacy and present him and his wife with a check to help cover some of the cost while he faces an extremely long road to making a full recovery and returning to work. This wouldn’t be possible without our amazing sponsors who continue to do so much in donating to our organization.

We look forward to Cpl. Stacy making a full recovery and joining his shift partners again! Thank you for your service Cpl. Stacy!

Rounds For Recovery

On July 25, 2026, The Sandlot hosted Rounds For Recovery, a charity shooting match where 100% of the proceeds went to the benefit of Cpl. Ryan Stacy. The event gathered over 50 shooters, dozens of sponsors, and many volunteers all to rally around one of our own in need. As a result, over $10,000 was raised for Cpl. Stacy.

The Ridgeland Police Department would like to extend our deepest gratitude to The Sandlot and everyone involved with making this event a tremendous success. This was not something we requested of them, but something that the people behind The Sandlot took upon themselves to do for our injured officer. Again, we send a huge thank you to all that participated, volunteered and donated for this event.
