🌡️ Extreme Heat Is Here – Stay Safe, Ridgeland! ☀️
Dangerous heat is expected across Mississippi over the next several days, with heat index values potentially reaching 105–115°F.
Protect yourself, your family, and your pets by following these simple safety tips:
💧 Drink plenty of water.
🏠 Try to stay indoors or in air-conditioned spaces during the hottest part of the day (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.).
👒 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and a hat if you must be outside.
⏰ Limit strenuous outdoor activities and take frequent breaks in the shade.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle—not even for a minute. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become deadly in just minutes.
👵 Check on neighbors, family members, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.
🐾 Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and a cool place to rest.
⚠️ Know the warning signs of heat illness. If someone experiences confusion, loses consciousness, has a body temperature above 103°F, or stops sweating, call 911 immediately.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay informed. Your safety is our priority.
