Who doesn’t love a little sunshine in their lives? Ms Beth Burton, Lake County Public Health Educator, made the first lap with our participants today at the walking track while soaking up the sunshine. Our lunch and learn was geared to the importance of staying motivated and positive. Dr Burton, Lake County Director of Schools, shared two of his special cakes with our seniors today. A sunshine Cake, oh so delicious. Thank you, Dr Burton, for serving our aging community all while taking care of our most precious children.

The EPIC Elvis Presley show, a documentary concert feature tonight at the Stand tonight was excellent. Our seniors clapped, cried, and sat on the edge of their seats listening to the King’s old classic music.

Y’all look! We have a been watching the wonder of a mother bird building her nest in a wreath on the front door of our senior center. The beauty of getting to watch it thru clear glass has been precious. She had 6 eggs. Each day, one is hatching. Our seniors are happy to announce our “grand” birds are making their appearance. Folks, in this busy world, sometimes it’s nice to be still and just watch.

Our seniors took a journey today to visit the Reelfoot Quick Stop, Reelfoot Lake's oldest and most historic bait shop, a true gem that has been a beacon of hope for 92 incredible years. We had the privilege of knowing it 30 years ago as Jones Grocery Store, a name that we all respect of nostalgia and wonder. Present Store owner Frankie Sharp shared with us he has owned it 30 years. What a wonderful coincidence that we had the lovely Ms. Elaine Stover, who shares the same age as the store, 92 years young, joining us on this unforgettable adventure. Take a look at the vintage small glass Coke bottles, a nostalgic reminder of a bygone era, a step back in time that fills our hearts with joy and wonder.

Make plans to join us for one of our many activities. We have a hot lunch at 11:30 each day.
