On Monday, May 31st, we celebrate Memorial Day to honor and pay tribute to those who died while in military service. This is usually accomplished with placing markers on graves, with parades and services at several locations throughout the County, and is symbolic of the unofficial mark of the summer season. The staff of Elk County Sheriff’s Office extends our very best wishes to the citizens of Elk County for the upcoming holiday. However, most importantly we recognize and acknowledge those who have lost their lives while in military service and the families that they left behind. We owe them a debt of thanks that we can never repay.

May 16th through May 22nd is proclaimed the week where we recognize and celebrate the hard work of our Emergency Medical Service providers. Pre-hospital emergency services have been life savers for many of our local citizens. The dedicated Medic and EMT practitioners are the hope of a good outcome when an unexpected emergency crisis presents. Their selfless and quite professionalism often goes unnoticed. However, this week we remember and extend our gratitude and appreciation for their service and for their commitment to be there when the need arises. The Elk County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to acknowledge all of the EMS First Responders in Elk County and thanks them for their devotion to duty.

The newest class of deputy sheriffs graduated from the Pennsylvania Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Education and Training Program, thanks to the collaboration between Penn State and Pennsylvania, on Friday, May 7.

• Security for Hospital Admission of Inmate – 3 over-night shifts

• Sheriff Sales (Mortgage Foreclosure) Held - 1

• Evictions Held - 1

• Service of Civil Documents - 40

• Service of Protection from Abuse Orders – 14

• PFA Contempt Hearing - 1

• Warrant Service - 1

• Court and County property security on a daily basis

• Med Return Medicine Collection: 494.2 pounds of unused medications were transferred to the Pennsylvania National Guard and Agents from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office for destruction on January 5th.

The problem our office was experiencing with our License to Carry system has been resolved. We are again able to issue License to Carry permits. Please contact our office if your appointment was cancelled while we were down for maintenance. Thank you.

WE ARE CURRENTLY UNABLE TO PROCESS ANY LICENSES AND MAY BE DOWN FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME WHILE THEY WORK TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. STAFF WILL BE REACHING OUT TO THOSE WHO HAVE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS AND WILL UPDATE OUR PAGE WHEN THE SYSTEM IS BACK UP AND RUNNING PROPERLY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.
