To compensate for the loss of our heritage red hickory tree, today we installed a 20’ (Quercus bicolor) swamp white oak as its replacement.

Swamp white oak is a striking tree with an attractive peeling bark, especially on young trees. The lustrous, lobed leaves have a two-tone appearance, dark green on top with a silvery-white underside. Fall color is an orange-gold to yellow in mid-autumn. An excellent shade tree for the Ridley Park Borough.

I personally went and selected the species/specific tree to ensure the quality was obtained.

Make it a point to visit this new addition to our park,
