This months Rescue training at Station 2. 🌊

Crews got after it with some swift water rescue training, getting reps in with throw bags and dialing in their accuracy. 🎯

Might look easy until you’re the one trying to make that throw when it counts.

🚒🔥 Light Work in Delco.

Engine 126 and Brush Truck 127 rolled out to Zachary Drive for a downed power line with a little fire to go along with it.

Line wasn’t hot, so crews made quick work of the fire before it could get any bigger. Hit it with some foam for good measure, handed the scene over to Duke Energy, and got back to business. 🤙🏼

Nothing crazy, just another day on the job.

🚒 STRUCTURE FIRE RESPONSE – RIEGELWOOD

ADR Fire-Rescue and mutual aid crews responded to REV Federal Credit Union on John Riegel Road following reports of an electrical burning odor and smoke like smell inside the building.

Upon arrival, crews found no visible smoke or fire. Firefighters investigated the source of the odor, checking the attic space and HVAC ductwork using thermal imaging cameras (TICs) to identify any possible heat sources or hidden fire, as the smell was suspected to be apart of the building’s HVAC system.

After no immediate hazards were detected, employees were advised to contact building maintenance for further evaluation.

All responding units cleared the scene following the investigation.

STORM RESPONSE | MUTUAL AID 🚒

Following reports of a tornado near Sandyfield in Bladen County, ADR Fire-Rescue responded to Kennedy Store Road for a downed tree blocking the roadway.

ADR responded with QRV 1, Engine 124, Brush 127, and EMS 121 to assist with clearing the hazard.

Thanks to the quick and efficient work of our crews, the roadway was cleared in a timely manner. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

ADR FIRE RESCUE RESPONDED THURSDAY, 10/08/2026, BEFORE LUNCH @11:12 AM, TO A REPORTED TILTMOTOR, (OSPREY) AIRCRAFT CRASH. THIS IS A MUTUAL AID CALL, PER THE BLADEN/COLUMBUS MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT. THE DISTANT WAS ABOUT A 40 MINUTE RIDE THE LOCATION IN THE STATE PARK OFF OF SWEET HOME TRAIL ROAD. THE DEPARTMENT ALERTED COLUMBUS COUNTY EM KAY STEPHENS, TO ADVISE THAT WE ARE OUT OF THE COUNTY WITH OUR FOAM UNIT.
ON ARRIVAL, FOUND NUMEROUS AGENCIES ON LOCATION. INCIDENT COMMAND ASKED UP TO EXTINGUISH THE AIRCRAFT WITH OUR FOAM TO EXTINGUISH THE JET FUEL USE TO POWER THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT HAD REPORTED 6000 LBS OF JET FUEL. GETTING SUPPIED BY LONG LAYS OF HOSE FROM SUPPORT ENGINES TO DUBLIN’S 4 WHEEL DRIVE ENGINE, WE SUCCESSFULLY BROUGHT THE FIRE UNDER CONTROL WITH THE NEW PFAS FREE, NATIONAL FOAM SFFF. THE DEPARTMENT USED 280 GALLONS OF FOAM TO CONTROL IT. THE EFFECTIVE METHOD WAS BY USING THE GROUND MONITOR, TFT SELF-OSCULATING BLITZFIRE MONITOR WITH FOAM TUBE AT 6% APPLICATION RATE. AFTER BRINGING UNDER CONTROL, THE MILITARY CFR PERSONNEL AS WELL AS FIRE OFFICIALS, INSPECTED THE CRASH SITE, ADDED SOME MORE FOAM TO HOT SPOTS AND THEN, CALLED UNDER CONTROL. AFTER CLEAN UP AND TAKING UP ALL EQUIPMENT, THE DEPARTMENT PARTICIPATED THE DEBRIEFING AND WERE CLEARED FROM THE SCENE. ARRIVAL BACK AT THE STATION, THE MEMBERS CLEANED THE UNIT BY FLUSHING OUT THE FOAM SYSTEM. THE FOAM WILL BE ORDERED TODAY, TO GET THE SUPPLY BACK UP FOR OUR TAXPAYERS. BLADEN COUNTY OFFICIALS WILL TAKE CARE OF THE PURCHASE OF THE FOAM, AFTER IT ARRIVES AND THE NEW TOTE WILL BE INSTALLED ON THE FOAM UNIT.
THE DEPARTMENTS RESPONDING TO THIS CALL WERE ELIZABETHTOWN, AMMON, WHITELAKE, KELLY, BLADENBORO, TARHEEL, BAY TREE, WHITELAKE, BLADEN EMS, BLADEN FIRE, NC STATE HIGHWAY PATROL, BLADEN SHERIFF OFFICE, NC FORESTRY SERVICE, NEW RIVER MARINE CORP AIR STATION & ADR.
PHOTOS OF THE CRASH SCENE WERE ASKED ALL TO NOT BE PUT ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS THIS WAS A MILITARY INCIDENT AND THEIR PERSONNEL, ASKED FOR ALL PHOTO’S STAY ON OUR PHONES.

Your battery may warn you before something goes seriously wrong.

STOP using a rechargeable device if you notice:

⚠️ The battery becoming unusually hot
⚠️ Swelling or changing shape
⚠️ A strange odor
⚠️ Leaking
⚠️ Popping or hissing noises
⚠️ Smoke

A damaged lithium-ion battery can overheat and start a fire.

If something doesn’t look, smell, or sound right—don’t keep charging it.

Knowing the warning signs is another charging superpower!

100% means you’re done!

Once your device is fully charged, unplug it. Leaving rechargeable devices connected unnecessarily can create additional heat and stress on the battery.

A good habit to start today:

⚡ Plug it in.
🔋 Let it charge.
✅ When it’s full—unplug it.

Small habits can make a big difference in preventing fires.

🔥 WEDNESDAY — SOFT SURFACE? HARD PASS. 🛏️🚫

We’ve all done it—plugged our phone in while it’s laying on the bed or couch.

But devices and chargers naturally create heat while charging, and blankets, pillows, couches, and mattresses can trap that heat.

🔋 Charge devices on a hard, flat surface such as a table, desk, countertop, or bare floor.

🚫 Not under your pillow.
🚫 Not buried in the blankets.
🚫 Not wedged between the couch cushions.

Give your device room to breathe while it charges!
