It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Firefighter Nick Mathis of the Southwest Fire Department.

Nick faithfully served his community for 25 years, answering the call with dedication, courage, and selflessness. His commitment to the fire service and the people he served will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters of Southwest Fire Department and by the entire Alcorn County Fire Service family. Please keep his children and family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. May they feel the strength of our community and the comfort of knowing Nick’s legacy of service will live on.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Glen Fire department and the family and friends of Chief James McAnally. He dedicated many years serving the Glen community and Alcorn County. His legacy will continue on through the lives he has touched and the many firefighters he has taught. Rest easy, Sir, we’ll take it from here.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Glen Fire Department Chief James McAnally. Chief McAnally was a dedicated pillar of the Alcorn County fire service, serving his community for more than four decades. He faithfully protected the citizens of Glen and Alcorn County with unwavering commitment and selflessness. His legacy will live on through the firefighters he led, the many individuals he instructed and mentored, and the family and friends who loved him. We honor his life and service by continuing to answer the call each time the alarm sounds, just as he would expect us to do. Please join us in keeping his family and the Glen Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
