As part of Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Rifle Gap State Park Complex we offer a wide range of free outdoor programs and lessons to help people get excited about being outside!

We're moving up to Rifle Gap State Park Complex! For some this will be closer to home while for others it will be further away. Either way, we're delighted to be offering interpretive programs at Rifle Gap, Harvey Gap and Rifle Falls. Our new interpretive ranger, Hannah, will be joining us later this month.

Tomorrow is the big day! Bring your family hiking at Rifle Falls on January 1st. Follow signs to learn new things and look for prize cards along the way. In honor of 2022 we have 22 prizes including geodes, bows and arrows, and family adventure kits. Even if you don't find a prize you can still have hot cocoa and make new memories along the way.

Rifle Gap Outdoors' last programs until May!
🐦On Saturday we will have bird crafts followed by owl pellet dissection. There are limited amounts of owl pellets so if you're interested please arrive on time!
From 1-4 pm will we will make cute ornaments.
🐦On Sunday 12th we're having a backyard bass competition - practice casting a fishing pole to catch plastic fish and win prizes. At 1 pm we'll be doing animal face painting then from 3-4 it's survival bracelets. After that we're going to hibernate through the winter.

Got plans this weekend?
🌲On Friday we will make trees out of trees and learn how to identify animal tracks.
🐝On Saturday we will have a touch table out to learn more about Colorado animals. Then we will make beeswax candles and break geodes. These programs have limited supplies so please arrive on time.
🦌On Sunday we will make cute deer (or reindeer if you're feeling festive) and holiday cards.

❄️ This month we will not have reservations, but supplies are limited to please arrive on time.
❄️ Rifle Gap Outdoors works seasonally so after December 15th we will be hibernating until April.
🐻 Did you know that bears wake up during hibernation? It's possible with volunteer help that we will be able hold some programs.

Thanksgiving is coming up! Make new memories with our Turkey Trivia Trot and Escape Room.
🦃Turkey Trivia Trot - walk around Lions Pond area to learn new things. Solve a short puzzle to win a prize!
🦃After Thanksgiving, challenge your family to an Escape Room! Solve nature challenges in our building to unlock the prize box.

All programs are free to the public and are held at the River Stop (I70 Rest Area Rifle)
