Salmon River Joint School District 243 Located in Riggins, Idaho. Salmon River Joint School District #243 is comprised of two schools, Riggins Elementary School & Salmon River Jr/Sr High School.

The district is committed to improving student learning and achievement at all levels. s the Snake River, giving its reputation, "The Whitewater Capital" of Idaho. Recreational opportunities abound, making our area a natural learning habitat. Wild game--including elk, deer, bear, wild turkey, grouse, chukar--and the best Chinook salmon and steelhead fishing in Idaho abound in the national forest areas and waters that make up our backyard. Riggins has a mild winter climate, but is only an hour away from major ski areas. Riggins is 150 miles north of Boise and 110 miles south of Lewiston. The community takes pride in our children, our schools and our rural lifestyle.

Our 1st and 5th graders had an amazing day fishing at Box Canyon! With beautiful weather, plenty of fish biting, and warm temperatures, students enjoyed reeling in some great catches and even cooling off in the water. It was a perfect day filled with fun, learning, and outdoor adventure! πŸŽ£β˜€οΈπŸŸπŸ’¦

Mission Statement
We will strive to inspire and empower every student to achieve their fullest potential as an individual, to build skills and attitudes necessary to become successful citizens with personal integrity in an ever changing society.

The Lost & Found bin is overflowing. Please claim your items no later than June 4. All remaining items will be taken to the Etc. store the following day.

All student lunch balances need to be paid by June 4. The meal fees can be paid on the e-Funds site.

Kindergarten Graduation will be on June 3rd, 2026 at 10:30.

Fifth grade Graduation will be on June 3rd, 2026 at 2:30

The 1st and 5th graders will be going on a field trip today bus leaves at 10:15

Incoming freshmen or juniors for next school year that are expecting to play any sports are required to get a physical. Don’t wait until the season starts to get these done! They are not required for summer scrimmages/tournaments/camps.

June 2nd Box Canyon field trip for the 1st and 5th graders
June 4th Last Day of School/Early release at RES 12:55
RES May Attendance Awards/Student Achievement Awards
June 4th ASK will have an early release at 2:55pm
June 5th Teacher work day

Student fees can be paid on the PowerSchool portal and the meal charges can be paid on the e-Funds site.

Incoming freshmen or juniors for next school year that are expecting to play any sports are required to get a physical. Don’t wait until the season starts to get these done! They are not required for summer scrimmages/tournaments/camps.

Today the 5th graders will be at the junior high starting 3rd hour for Shadow Day.

Math Lab will be 9:00 am -1:00 pm tomorrow instead of 10:00 am-2:00 pm.

The junior high track qualifiers will be traveling to the Caldwell High School on Saturday for the YMCA Middle School Championships.

There will be no school on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

Senior awards night will be on Tuesday, May 26, at 6:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room.

All outstanding student/staff fees and meal charges need to be paid by June 4. Student fees can be paid on the PowerSchool portal and the meal charges can be paid on the e-Funds site.

Math Tutoring will be every Tuesday 4:00-5:30 p.m. and every Friday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. for the remainder of the school year.
