Congratulations to Ardry Trading Company on being named International Business of the Year by the World Trade Center Savannah!

“International trade is not just done by the largest companies in the world, sometimes it is done by a small company in Effingham County.” – Ed Vance

Ardry may be a small company, but as Ed Vance shared, it is the team behind the work, solving customer problems and managing the details, that makes global business possible. Because of that team, Ardry continues to operate on a global scale while representing Effingham County.

The Effingham County Industrial Development Authority was proud to help bring Ardry to Effingham County in 2003, and we are even more proud to see their continued success today.

We join them in celebrating this recognition and their role in connecting U.S. manufacturers to the world through Georgia.

Workforce PhD: Where are they now?

After completing the Workforce PhD program in 2022, Riley Young, a graduate of Effingham County School District, is now working as a ship-to-shore crane operator with Georgia Ports Authority — a career path that has provided a strong and stable opportunity.

Riley credits the program with helping him understand the importance of professionalism and preparing him for the transition from high school to the workforce. Through connections made during Workforce PhD, he was introduced to opportunities at GPA and is continuing to grow through their YES! Program.

His advice to students is simple: take the transition to the workforce seriously. Showing up on time, maintaining professionalism, and understanding expectations are key to long-term success.

Stories like Riley’s highlight how Workforce PhD connects students to real careers and builds a strong talent pipeline in Effingham County.
