RINCON, GA (August 19, 2026) The Rincon Police Department and Rincon Fire responded to a reported disturbance involving an individual experiencing an apparent behavioral or mental health crisis and armed with a baseball bat this morning just before 9:00 AM.
Officers arrived on scene at 617 Towne Park West Drive, near Building 1100. Within minutes of receiving the call and encountered 57-year-old Bryan FOX actively causing damage to property. Officers engaged the suspect deployed a Taser, and were able to safely take the individual into custody.
Prior to being taken into custody, the suspect assaulted an employee, and using a baseball bat to damage numerous vehicles and at least two apartment units in the area.
During the incident, the suspect also started a small fire inside his apartment and took additional action to cause a small explosion, which was unsuccessful. The fire was contained, and the scene was secured to ensure there was no continuing threat to residents or responding personnel.
Despite the property damage and potentially dangerous circumstances, no injuries were reported.
“This was a rapidly evolving and potentially dangerous situation for our officers, residents, and everyone in the surrounding area,” said Rincon Police Chief Jonathon Murrell “Our officers arrived within minutes, immediately engaged the individual, and were able to bring the situation under control, while avoiding what could have been a lethal force situation. We are thankful no one was injured.”
The incident remains under investigation; numerous felony charges are pending.
FOX was transported to Effingham Hospital to be evaluated.
