The Town of Rindge respectfully announces the funeral services for Lawrence "Larry" Harris, a longtime and deeply respected member of the Rindge community.

Larry Dedicated more than 50 years of service to the communities of Rindge and Jaffrey as an Animal Control Officer and served 20 years as a Town Costable. Through his many years of service, Larry was known for his unwavering commitment to help others. Whether responding to accidents and traffic incidents, assisting residents with home repairs, shoveling driveways, plowing roads or simply lending a helping hand, Larry was always willing to serve his neighbors and community.

His dedication and service were formally recognized by the Town of Rindge in 2024, when he was awarded the honorary lifetime title of Animal Control Officer.

Larry's impact extended far beyond his official duties. He was a loyal, hard working, generous and caring community member whose willingness to help others became a defining part of his life. His legacy of service will continue to be remembered by the many residents, public safety personnel, friends and neighbors he has touched.

FUNERAL SERVICES:

Cathedral of the Pines
Rindge, NH

Set-up starts at 10:00am with a 11:00am sharp walk through for law enforcement, fire personnel, and any other agencies who wish to aprricipate. Light food and drink will be provided.

Funeral services will start directly after the walk through at the Cathedral of the Pines.

POLICE & FIRE DEPARTMENT PARTICIPATION:

Any fire & police departments wishing to participate in the service, procession or Honor Guard are asked to contact the Rindge Firefighters Association Secretary

Larry Harris devoted much of his life serving others and his community. As we gather to honor his life we invite the public safety community, the residents of Rindge and the surrounding communities to come together and pay tribute to a man whose services left a lasting mark on the people he served.

Rest well, Larry. Your service to Rindge and its people will not be forgotten.

It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we announce the loss of our beloved friend Lawrence "Larry" T. Harris.

Larry passed away peacefully at his home yesterday morning.

He selflessly served the town of Rindge for nearly 7 decades, holding numerous roles within the Fire Department and the Police Department as well as contributing to nearly every other department in Town. He was easily the most recognized person in town. He will be most remembered for his 64-year position as the town's Animal Control Officer. Upon his retirement, he was bestowed with that honorary lifetime title.

Arrangements are pending - honoring a lifetime of service takes time to plan.

If you have a memory of Larry that you would like to share, please feel free to leave comments here and we will make sure that they are relayed to his family. I will personally always remember Larry's larger than life personality, super-human abilities, and constant presence during the 22 years that I had the honor of knowing him.

We will miss you, my dear friend. You have served our community well and we will forever hold you in our hearts. It is now time to rest, sir. We will carry on in the example of the life that you led.

The Planning Board has a board member position that is currently open. The Board is looking for a Rindge resident to fill the position until the 2027 Town Election in March. They plan to make an appointment at their regularly scheduled Board meeting on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, starting at 6:00 pm. From the Secretary of State on Absentee Ballot Requests. The NH State Primary is on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th, 2026.

If you qualify to vote absentee, return a completed absentee ballot application to your town clerk and prove your identity by either showing qualifying photo ID when hand-delivering your application; enclosing a photocopy of that ID when mailing your application; or notarizing your application.

NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURE

WHEN: Tuesday, July 21st, 2026 from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm

WHERE: Payson Hill Road

WHY: Culvert Replacement where Payson Hill Road intersects with NH Route 119

HOW DO I GET AROUND? Instead of going down Payson Hill to get to NH Route 119, please use Main Street (it's the road that the Fire Department, Police Department, and Transfer Station are on).

WHAT DO I DO IF I LIVE THERE? If you live on Payson Hill Road, you can get out. Instead of going down Payson Hill, you go up the road and turn down Main Street to get to NH Route 119.

WILL TOWN OFFICES BE OPEN? Yes! Town Offices will be open and operating. When you leave, make sure to turn left!

Culvert Replacement - Expect Delays on Mountain Road

Starting the week of July 6th, the Public Works Department will begin replacing the culvert on Mountain Road. The project should be completed within the next 2 to 3 weeks and may cause traffic delays. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve our roads, and we apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

***FINAL CALL FOR FIREWORKS PERMITS***

Be advised tomorrow, Thursday, July 2nd 2026 is the LAST CALL for fireworks permits for the upcoming weekend. Per Town of Rindge ordinance 93-11, a valid fireworks permit is required to discharge any Class C or Class B fireworks product.

We will NOT be in the station to issue permits on Friday, July 3rd 2026 due to the holiday.

EXTREME HEAT WARNING & EMERGENCY COOLING CENTERS

An extreme heat warning was issued by the National Weather Service that covers our area. The warning is in effect from 11:00 am Wednesday, July 1st to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 3rd.

Please make sure that you and everyone in your family, including pets, stay hydrated. Please regularly remind your children to drink water. If possible, stay in an air-conditioned room and out of the sun. Check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in minutes.

If outside for any length of time, wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and try to limit strenuous activity to early morning or evening. Please watch for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and act if symptoms are seen.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency and should be taken seriously. Common symptoms include confusion, altered mental status, slurred speech, loss of consciousness, hot dry skin or profuse sweating, seizures, and very high body temperature. Heat stroke is fatal if treatment is delayed. If someone is showing these signs, please call 911 for emergency medical care and stay with the patient until they arrive. Move the patient to a shaded, cool area and cool them quickly by placing cold wet cloths on the skin and circulating the air around them.

For the safety of our residents, the following public spaces will be available during the listed hours as cooling centers. If your home does not have air conditioning or you lose power, please go to one of these facilities to cool off and hydrate.

Ingalls Memorial Library, 203 Main Street – Wednesday, July 1st from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, & Thursday, July 2nd from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Rindge Town Office Conference Room, 30 Payson Hill Road – Wednesday, July 1st and Thursday, July 2nd from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Rindge Recreation Center, Wellington Road, from Wednesday, July 1st to Friday, July 3rd, 7:30 am to 1:00 pm & 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
