Riner Volunteer Rescue Squad

Riner Volunteer Rescue Squad Riner Volunteer Rescue Squad: Serving the community of Riner, VA and Montgomery County.

The small community of Riner is known as a rural area of Montgomery County, Virginia. Although a small community, the need for a rescue squad was apparent as neighbor, Christiansburg Rescue, answered many calls in the Riner area. With hard work, patience, and dedication from several special individuals, Riner Volunteer Rescue Squad became a reality as it opened up as a sub-station of Christiansbur

g Rescue Squad in May of 2007. Furnished with a new building, new ambulance, and a crash truck, all was needed to begin answering calls. In 2011, Riner Volunteer Rescue Squad broke it's ties with Christiansburg Rescue to become it's own independent squad. Shortly after, Riner was furnished with another ALS certified ambulance. More members were added to the squad to create a five call team rotation to serve through out the week. Riner also has several associate members answer and respond to calls as well. Our Squad is always looking for more volunteers, no previous experience is required! Out with the old and in with the new(newer)

Good evening tonight we said goodbye to an old friend. We took our Van unit 11-2 out of service, while this unit is still in great condition it just did not suit our needs. So we had the opportunity to get a like new (2012) box unit which will better suit the needs of the department and the community. This unit was place in service today and will be a great addition to Riner Rescue.

Members from our Sunday night crew recently enjoyed running scenarios at the new Teel Park in Riner.

While their training was cut short due to being dispatched on a call, they still managed to brush up on skills such as tourniquets to stop major hemorrhage, oxygen administration, and overall shock treatment.

Good evening to our wonderful Riner Community.

As many of you are aware Riner Rescue was and has always been built around our community, schools, and the citizens we serve.

From day one of the conception of Riner Rescue, something we took pride in was the design of our ambulances and response units. We always tried to make sure we show that pride every time we roll out of the building.

That being said, throughout the years we have evolved and changed. Designs may have came and went, but our love for our community has not. One of the things we often get asked about from the community is what happened to the Eagle?

Well, after five years of abscence, we are proud to announce that the Eagle will be returning with the current Auburn High colors of black, silver and blue.

Each of us at Riner Volunteer Rescue Squad are excited to see this change come back, and for the Eagle to again be front and center for you our Riner Community.
