The Ringgold Fire Department asks that you keep our fellow Brothers & Sisters in blue in your prayers as they lost one of their own yesterday. Nick spent time as a fellow firefighter as well with a neighboring department in his past. Our thoughts & prayers are with the Pittsylvania County Sheriffs Office.

Today we pause to remember one of our own.

Not every loss in law enforcement comes with flashing lights or headlines. Some come quietly, without warning, leaving a silence that feels just as heavy. Today we mourn the passing of Investigator Nicolas "Nick" Samuels, a coworker, a friend, and a dedicated member of our Special Investigations Division who served with integrity, humility, and quiet strength.

Nick was the kind of investigator who didn’t seek recognition but earned respect. He approached his work with focus and determination, always committed to doing things the right way. Whether working a case, supporting a fellow deputy, or simply showing up day after day, he brought a steady presence that others relied on.

Nick may not have fallen in the line of duty but make no mistake—his service mattered. Every case he touched, every life he impacted, and every effort he gave contributed to the safety of this community and the strength of this office. That kind of commitment does not go unnoticed, and it will not be forgotten.

Behind the badge was a man who cared—about his work, his fellow officers, and the people he served. The kind of coworker you could count on without question. The kind of presence that made long days more manageable and difficult moments a little easier to bear.

We grieve alongside his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. We also honor his life by carrying forward the example he set—of professionalism, dedication, and quiet service to something greater than himself.

Rest easy, Investigator Nicolas Samuels. Your watch has ended, but your impact remains.

‼️Multi agency vehicle crash with road closure‼️

Just after midnight units were dispatched to the area of 7400 South Boston Hwy for a tractor trailer accident with possible entrapment. The rescue engine arrived to find a tractor trailer over the guardrail where it came to rest on its side. The driver was assisted out of his vehicle to be assessed by Transport 231. The driver stated he was hauling soda bottles in the trailer & that he was fully loaded. There was an active fuel leak from both saddle tanks, units used equipment off the engine to eliminate any further damage to the environment due to a nearby stream. Danville Fires Haz Mat Team responded to assist with the leak, as well as VDEM & DEQ. VDOT assisted in shutting the roadway down & at this time both lanes of HWY 58 Eastbound are still shut down.
