Dry Pipe Valves are installed in areas that cannot maintain above freezing temperatures. Such as unheated buildings, parking garages, outdoor loading docks, or cold-storage freezers

The pipes above the valve are filled with compressed air instead of water.

It prevents water inside the pipes from freezing, cracking, or causing accidental water damage.

When heat from a fire opens a sprinkler head, the compressed air escapes, opening the Dry Pipe Valve and sending water into the system.
