On Friday, May 8th, 2026 at approximately 0513 hours, the Amwell Valley Fire Company was dispatched to Wertsville Road in East Amwell Township on box 48-26 for a reported residential structure fire with possible occupants trapped.
Chief 48 arrived on scene, confirmed smoke showing, and deployed a water can on the fire as additional units arrived. Engine 48-1 stretched a hoseline through the front door alongside Chief 47 and worked to knock down fire at the rear of the residence. Tender Task Force South was called in to establish a rural water supply.
Mutual aid was provided by 47 Fire, 26 Fire, SC 36 Fire, and 52 Fire, along with the Amwell Valley Ambulance Corps. Crews from 26 Fire and 47 Fire opened up at the rear of the structure, while interior firefighters from 26 Fire assisted with suppression and overhaul.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 1.5 hours, and all units were cleared from the scene a short time later. The incident is under investigation by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety State Fire Marshal's Office.
Just after clearing from the structure fire, at approximately 0812 hours, the Amwell Valley Fire Company was dispatched to Linvale Harbourton Road in West Amwell Township on box 26-84 for a reported motor vehicle rollover with possible entrapment alongside 26 Fire, 17 Rescue, and the West Amwell Police Department.
Upon arrival, command found a single SUV on its side against a snapped utility pole. The driver had self extricated prior to arrival. Firefighters worked to secure power to the vehicle and mitigate other hazards on scene. The driver was evaluated on scene. Crews remained on location until the arrival of the tow company and JCP&L. The incident was investigated by the West Amwell Police Department.
