Step back in time this weekend and explore Ringwood Manor, a Gilded Age summer estate that was home to the Cooper and Hewitt families, whose ironmaking operations played an important role in New Jersey’s industrial history.

After being closed for the past year for a major exterior restoration, Ringwood Manor is welcoming visitors back for tours beginning Aug. 8 and 9 during the annual Living History Timeline event.

Visitors can take a guided tour of the Manor and explore 32 of 51 fully furnished rooms, featuring original family furnishings, artwork and artifacts.

📅 Opening weekend tours: Aug. 8 & 9�
🕙 Every half hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.�
🎟️ $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (age 62+), $5 for children (ages 6-12), children 5 and under are free. Tickets are purchased at the park office located at the side of Ringwood Manor.

Following opening weekend, tours will resume their normal schedule Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Business Opportunity: Ringwood State Park - New Jersey Botanical Garden

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is accepting bid proposals for the operation of a food truck concession at the New Jersey Botanical Garden within Ringwood State Park.

Proposals are due by 5 p.m. on July 21.

The Independence Day holiday is always one of the busiest days throughout our NJ State Parks, which means that we will likely see capacity closures in many of our areas. Please keep the following tips in mind to make your visit to the park as enjoyable as possible:

🚫🏊🏼‍♂️There is NO SWIMMING in any of the areas administered by Ringwood State Park. Please visit the link below for a list of parks with swimming, and CALL AHEAD before heading out, as most parks with swimming fill VERY EARLY.

❗️Parking fees will be in effect at Shepherd Lake, Ringwood, and Skylands on Friday, July 3 (the observed holiday) through Sunday, July 5. Our tolls are cash only, and exact change helps to speed up the line. We do not have an ATM on-site.

⏰ Come early, and come together! Popular picnic, barbecue, and hiking spots usually fill in the morning, so round up your group and get here as soon as possible (and together so you don't get separated), and be sure to bring everything you need with you. If an area fills to capacity, you may be directed to park in another lot and walk (pro-tip: bring a cart, wagon, or handtruck in case you have to walk), or turned away completely until sufficient space opens up. There is no re-entry when an area is filled to capacity.

➡️ Have an alternate plan, just in case. Plan a backup hike or an alternate picnic area to visit. Maybe pack a picnic blanket or chairs in case there are no tables left when you get here.

🗑 Dumpsters are available in the Shepherd Lake and Ringwood picnic areas for garbage disposal. Be prepared to take your trash home with you for proper disposal in the event the dumpsters fill up. Be sure to clean up any loose trash in your area and leave the park as clean as you found it!

🚫 Please remember that alcohol is not permitted anywhere in the park, and smoking is permitted only in personal vehicles. Additional park rules are posted at bulletin boards and throughout the park.

🎉 Fireworks, firecrackers, sparklers, smoke bombs, and other incendiary devices are not permitted in the park at any time.

🚗 REMINDER: The Skylands Road gate is CLOSED. Please use Morris Road to access Skylands and Shepherd Lake.

Mother's Day is always one of the busiest days of the year in the park, and if the weather is good, we expect this year to be no exception. If you're bringing Mom to the garden this weekend, follow these tips to avoid disappointing her!

🚗 Enter via the Morris Road entrance. The Skylands Road gate will be closed on weekends through October.
🕓 Come earlier or later in the day, if possible. Peak traffic times are usually in the early afternoon. Arrive together to avoid getting separated or having part of the party get turned away.
🅿️ Follow signs and directions of park staff to parking. Once lots fill, additional street parking will be available along the left side of Honeysuckle Lane.
⬅️ Have an alternate plan. If the gardens fill to capacity, all traffic will be directed to Shepherd Lake. If you are turned away, head to the lake and try back in a little while, or visit another area (Ringwood Manor is also lovely!). The gardens will reopen as space allows.
🚫 Photography permits DO NOT grant access when the area is full. Plan a backup location.

In celebration of Earth Day, we’re coming together to help keep Ringwood State Park beautiful! Join us for a volunteer trash clean-up at Green Turtle Pond on Saturday, April 25th, 2026.
📅 Date: April 25, 2026 (Rain date: April 26th)
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Location: Green Turtle Pond (limited parking is available in the upper lot, additional parking is available in the lower lot)
Let’s honor Earth Day by giving back to our local environment. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors—everyone is welcome! Gloves and bags will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes.

Please note that parking in the top lot is limited and best for sedans, vehicles with higher ground clearances are encouraged to exercise caution when heading into the lower parking lots due to the road conditions.

A big thanks go out to Daniel Hanabergh and Boy Scout Troop 76, who completed an Eagle Scout project at the Otter Hole Trailhead in Norvin Green State Forest - South this weekend.

They built and installed an information kiosk for hikers, improved the path from the parking lot, trimmed invasive vines, repaired parking signs, added a no parking sign, and donated gravel for the path.

Thanks to Daniel for his leadership, the members of Ringwood Troop 76 (and team), Trail Steward Ed for helping coordinate the project for the park, and the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference for supporting these enhancements.

🚲 There will be a $5 per car Event Parking Fee in effect for all vehicles entering the Shepherd Lake Area on Sunday, April 19, 2026 for the Team Town Cycle Mountain Bike Race from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.

🚗 There will be no fee at the Skylands or Ringwood Manor sections.
