Sandoval County Public Works Department The Public Works Department manages the infrastructure that supports all county government operations. The department handles maintenance and upkeep of all county facilities, as well as the county's vehicle fleet.

The Sandoval County Solid Waste Division, which manages the county landfill and recycling center, also is part of the Public Works Department. The department also maintains the 3,170 miles of roads that fall within the county's jurisdiction. The road maintenance staff performs services ranging road blading and paving to snow removal, fence repair and trimming obtrusive vegetation. Landfill Hours:

Spring Break Closure April 18 & 19

Sandoval County will be closed for Spring Break on April 18 and April 19. This will include, but is not limited to, the following facilities and programs:

All Sandoval County Offices
Sandoval County Landfill (Landfill will be open April 18, but will be closed on April 19 & 20)
Cuba Collection Center
Canon (Jemez) Collection Center
Pena Blanca Collection Center
Bernalillo Senior Center
Corrales Senior Center
Cuba Senior Center
Jemez Valley Senior Center
Placitas Community Center
El Zocalo Event Center
DWI Prevention & Intervention Programs
Services during the closure will still be offered by the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Department and the Sandoval County Fire Department. The Sandoval County Detention Center will be in operation, but the administrative offices will be closed. Visitation will still be permitted at the Detention Center on these Spring Break days. All of Sandoval County’s facilities and services will reopen for regular business hours on April 22.

The Sandoval County website, and services offered through the website, will still be available during the facility closures.

The Sandoval County Road Crews are out plowing roads and they will get to all of them as soon as possible,but it may take the rest of the week as this storm is a slow and lingering one. Please be patient with our crews as they are working hard to get all our county roads cleared and passable.

Breaking: Blizzard warning issued for Albuquerque

The National Weather Service office in Albuquerque has issued a Blizzard Warning in effect from 6 p.m. this evening to 6 a.m. Saturday for the Middle Rio Grande Valley including the Albuquerque metro area, Sandia and Manzano Mountains.

Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected in the metro area, with the highest amounts expected on the west side of Albuquerque.

Between 12 and 20 inches of snow is expected across the Sandia and Manzano Mountains, with locally higher amounts possible.

On Wednesday, July 4, Sandoval County will celebrate the approval of the Declaration of Independence. In observance of Independence Day, Sandoval County offices and facilities will be closed on July 4. This will include, but is not limited to, the following facilities and programs:

-All Sandoval County Offices
-Sandoval County Landfill (Also closing early at 11:30 a.m. on July 3)
-Cuba Collection Center
-Canon (Jemez) Collection Center
