🚨Another scholarship recipient update!🚨

We reached out to Ellyse Ledbetter to see how school is going after receipt of The RVFD Hutchison Scholarship.

Here’s what she had to say!

“I am currently a junior in my third year of college at Southwestern Adventist University. I am three semesters into the nursing program and am expected to graduate in December 2027. My goal is to earn my nursing degree and eventually become a flight nurse/medic.
The reason I chose this career path is deeply personal. Growing up, I experienced several medical issues as a child, which gave me firsthand experience with the impact healthcare professionals can have on someone’s life. Seeing the care and support they provided inspired me to pursue a career where I can give back to others. I want to be someone who can help people through some of the most difficult and challenging moments of their lives and make a positive difference when they need it most.”

Ellyse has been serving alongside her father Ramon Ledbetter with Liberty Chapel VFD since December of 2025. Her father is the residing Chief of the department and you’ll often see her mother Jennifer Baker Ledbetter heavily involved as an auxiliary member of the department.

Ellyse obtained her Emergency Care Attendant (ECA) certification in March of 2026 as well!

This is where the proceeds of First Responders Day goes, folks!
Allowing people to chase dreams and give back to the communities that they love.

Providing assistance to our future first responders to ensure that the dedication, determination, and passion isn’t halted by financial burden.

🚨Another Scholarship Recipient Update!🚨

Kade Moore was one of our recipients of The RVFD Hutchison Scholarship in 2024.

Kade utilized those funds to attend Hill College Fire Academy as well as EMT course.

We’re happy to report that not only was Kade successful in completion of those courses as well as his TCFP & NREMT exams, but he has also now started working full time with Texas Forestry Service as a resource specialist and wildland firefighter!

We knew Kade was a great candidate for this scholarship and has continued to show his dedication since receiving it.

🔥Great stop by crews today!🔥

Engine 76, Brush 2-76 & Brush 4-76 responded for a mutual aid call for a structure fire involving grass with Bono VFD - Station 70 this afternoon.

Also responding were units from City of Godley Fire Department, Somerville County Fire and Johnson County, TX Emergency Management.

Upon arrival crews found an outbuilding at a stage of total loss as well as an estimated 10 acres of wildland involvement.

Although the property is geographically distanced from all responding units, crews arrived and quickly put a stop to forward progression of the fire.

No additional structures or property were lost as a result of this fire.

The fire area was surveyed at 13.4 acres and was deemed The Almost There Fire by Johnson County, Tx Emergency Management.

We want to thank all departments and crews involved in stopping what could have been a tragic day for many.

🎉Today we congratulate one of our own! 👏

Mrs. Brooke Hutchison graduated with City of Godley Fire Department Fire Academy Class 003 today!

Brooke joined Rio Vista Fire Department in November of 2024, immediately following receipt of her EMT certification.

In addition to serving with RVFD, Brooke has been a 911 dispatcher with Johnson County Emergency Services District No. 1 for nearly 12 years.

Since joining RVFD she has completed her 130/190 Wildland Firefighter certifications, Swiftwater Rescue Technician certification, as well as Flood & Swiftwater Boat Technician certification.

Brooke graduated as the valedictorian of her class today with an overall average of 99.61% & will soon take her Texas Commission on Fire Protection exam to finalize this firefighter certification.

Let’s all give Brooke a big round of applause for this achievement!

Great job extinguishing this grass fire today by our responders! We would like to thank Johnson County Emergency Services District No. 1 Station 83 & Battalion Chief, Grandview Volunteer Fire Department, Liberty Chapel VFD & Covington Fire Rescue for showing up and continuing to be great mutual aid partners!
