High to near Critical fire danger today: temp 65-70°, southerly winds 15-20G25+, RH 20-30%.
Overnight moisture recovery was moderate with max RH around 60-65%. Expect the RH to fall quickly this morning into the low 30’s and be into the 20’s by noon. Winds will arrive around 10 am which will also be the beginning of our burning window. The possibility is here that we may see the RH hit the upper teens.

To sum it up Please do not burn for next week!

Update on water in town!
Have had some improvement until this morning pressure has dropped again.

The fire dept would like to share a way to check to ensure you don’t have leak at your residence.

First make sure all water faucets are off in house.

Washer and dishwasher not running.

Go to where your water meter is open cover look at meter there is a little dial on it if it’s spin you still have water running.

If not spinning then you are good.

If it is spinning shut meter valve off and will need to locate where leak is from meter to whole house.

Thanks

The Fire dept is aware of the water issue in town. The Dept has reached out to surrounding Depts and Payne co EM to make sure if something happens we will have water without using any of the water source from the town.

The source of this problem was due to well freezing up. Since then the well has been thawed out and is currently running. But due to level of pressure this will take some time to regain normal operating pressure.

Please remember if using electric heaters to keep area around it clear. Also plug directly to outlet to prevent possible fire.

See these?

Do you know what they are and what they represent?

They are the shoes of volunteer firefighters.

They are the comfortable shoes, worn at home, running errands, taking the dog out, raking the leaves.

They were shed without hesitation to don heavy uncomfortable boots and bunker gear designed to offer at least some protection from fire, broken glass, and jagged metal.
Clothing whose sole purpose is to protect..... those who protect you.

Local guys.

They work in the oil patch, the local ag supplier, trucking company, phone company or area farms. Some are even retired but just not smart enough to stay that way.

They leave their wives, children, parents or whomever to come to complete strangers aid.

12 noon, 3pm, 2 am, it makes no difference.

And their families want little more than to see them put their shoes back on at the end of the call.

There are no words to describe the task of picking up that pair of shoes after a call, knowing the man or woman who put them there will not be returning to do it themselves.

Pay attention.

Get off the fricking phone.

Move over.

Help them put their shoes back on

Be weather aware after 3pm today, storm spotter activation anticipated. Storms are expected to fire along a surface boundary that is currently passing through Payne Co. Dew points are in the lower 70s to the south of this boundary and storm ingredients are in place. A mid-level short wave is currently moving our way from the SW and is expected to start influencing our atmosphere sometime after 3pm. Any supercell will have the ingredients to produce tornados. BUT our main concern is again flooding, we have the possibility of receiving another 2-4in of rain over the next 2 days.

05/21/2019

Updates ripley road closed due to road washes out. 68th and mehan both are closed due to high water. 56th east of 108 closed

05/21/2019

Please be aware of the flooding in our area!! Better to turn around and not chance it. Lots of county roads with water rushing over them right now!
