Unfortunately, due to low vendor participation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming fundraising vendor fair. With only four vendors registered, we donโ€™t feel we can provide the event experience our community, shoppers, and vendors deserve.

We truly appreciate the support of everyone who showed interest, especially the vendors who signed up to participate. We hope to revisit the event in the future with stronger participation and community support. Thank you for understanding and for continuing to support South Ripley Hose Co.

This week marks the celebration of EMS Week, recognizing the vital role Emergency Medical Services (EMS) plays within our local volunteer fire departments. Notably, EMS call volumes often surpass those of fire-related incidents in our area.

New York State has multiple levels of EMS certification, with our department staffed by EMT-Basics (EMT-B) and Paramedics. Specifically, South Ripley's ambulance operates at the EMT-Basic level, while Ripley's ambulance can be Advanced Life Support (ALS).

A key difference between EMT-B and Paramedic levels lies in the scope of interventions they can provide, with Paramedics authorized to administer more advanced care. This difference is underscored by the significant disparity in training hours: approximately 150 hours for EMT-Basic certification versus 1,600 hours for Paramedic training.

South Ripley relies on Chautauqua County EMS to assist with Advanced Life Support (ALS) calls, which account for nearly 90% of our EMS call volume.

Our department is fortunate to have three dedicated EMTs with varied experiences; more information about them can be found accompanying their profiles.

While Iโ€™m in Washington cutting taxes, securing the border, and standing up for small businesses, our team back home honored the Ripley Volunteer Fire Dept. Proud to be part of their annual banquet. These men and women risk their lives to protect ours. Grateful for their service

The article contains an inaccuracy regarding the decision not to host the large trash day, which it attributes to our fire department.

Contrary to this assertion, our department's concern was specifically about the placement of dumpsters on the blacktop, a surface that is taxpayer-funded, due to the potential for damage. Alternative solutions were offered, including placement on gravel or on a county-owned property situated between Sinden Road and NE Sherman Road.

This decision was not ours to make, and we encourage those with concerns to reach out to the town board.

RIPLEY โ€” At their meeting this month, Town of Ripley council members learned from Town Court Justice Vera Hustead that a Justice Court Assistance Program Grant for $2,522 has been awarded to Ripley. Hustead told council members that she filed for the grant in October. The funds will be used to fin...
