The Lauderdale County Chancery Court will be closed this Friday, June 19th, in observance of Juneteenth. We will resume our regular business hours on the following Monday.

Juneteenth marks a pivotal moment in our nation's history, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States and celebrating the spirit of freedom and resilience.

Important Notice Regarding Delinquent Personal Property Taxes:

Our office is currently working to collect delinquent personal property taxes as required by Tennessee law. IF YOU OWN A BUSINESS and have unpaid personal property taxes, we encourage you to contact our office as soon as possible to discuss your account and avoid additional collection costs and/or possible sell of your personal property.

Ignoring notices will not make the obligation go away. Delinquent taxes may be subject to further collection actions authorized under Tennessee law. (T.C.A 67-5-2003)

If you have received a notice or are unsure whether you have an outstanding balance, please contact our office during regular business hours. We are happy to assist you and discuss available options.

Delinquent Tax Notice Update:

Our office has received the 2024 delinquent tax records and is currently mailing certified letters to property wners with unpaid taxes.

If you receive a certified letter from our office, please do not ignore it. Open it promptly and contact our office as soon as possible so we can discuss your account and any available options.

Our goal is to help you address these matters before additional legal steps become necessary. If we are unable to make contact, the next step in the process may involve service through the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department.

We encourage everyone to take action early. Communication is the best way to avoid further complications and costs.

The Chancery Court Office has begun the process of collecting 2024 delinquent property taxes.

As a courtesy, our office has mailed out initial reminder letters to affected taxpayers. This is an opportunity to resolve your delinquent taxes before additional steps are taken, which may include:
• Certified mail notifications
• Service through the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department
• Publication in the local newspaper

We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this courtesy notice to avoid added costs and legal action.
