W24.26 🌱🥔 it’s getting close to potato harvest, and these determinate plants are going down; the heat, freezes, fire smoke, and water have all played a part in a challenging crop. Regardless, we’ll get them dug up soon 🥔🌱

W20.26 🌾✂️🔥 we started grain harvest but really just sucked smoke and sweated out the lightning-caused Big Rock wildfire about 3 miles from our house & farm 🇺🇸 we are all safe and sound but the fire has consumed 2500 acres and forced evacuations on the north side of Snake River. This was not the first fire of the season, nor will it be the last. Heck, the fire isn’t even out yet. Stay safe and be smart, everyone. Thanks to all the service people and volunteers for taking care of biz. Do what JB and I do to stay calm: listen to 🎸

W19.26 🍀 cutting some hayledge, stealing some peas 🫛 with this year’s water shortage, many around these parts planted a faster going green chop feed option that uses less water, and blends a few different plants. This was a three-way blend of peas, beardless barley, and triticale, now getting chopped and piled up for fall and winter feed.

W18.26 🌊 Idaho Farm Bureau Federation Annual Water Committee Tour 🌊 this year we convened in to learn more about the Idaho Power Cloud Seeding program in operation since the 1990s adding snowpack to our mountain watersheds; we visited the new Ridenbaugh Canal headworks a flow control project funded by the Idaho Water Resources Board and constructed year round while not negatively affecting the flow or environment of the Boise River; and the City of Boise showcased their world-renowned geothermal heating system, which has functioned in and around Boise downtown since 1891 and is state of the art and one of a kind. Did you know there are water rights just to use the heat off of Idaho water?? I did not. I learned and saw so much on this water tour. Thanks

W17.26 🦦🛶 river run water check on the Snake River South Fork 🌊🌊 potatoes and corn and hay are still making; grains shutting off and drying out 🌾🌾 the river is running very full as more water is released to go downstream west and south 🫎 there’s always a moose hiding out there somewhere 🫎
