The MDE open burning ban is in effect annually between June 1 and September 1. This burn ban involves the following counties: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s and Baltimore City. The ban does not affect backyard barbeque grilling or open fires for recreational purposes, such as campfires. For more information on the burn ban contact Maryland Department of the Environment Office of Air Quality at (410) 537-3231

Open Air Burning regulations are enforced by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Violations carry fines up to $1000 and/or one year in prison. The landowner can be charged with all of the costs associated with extinguishing the fire. Even small campfires can cause wildfires if they are not fully extinguished. Soak the coals with lots of water and make sure they are out cold!

Just before 1pm on Monday, May 11th, Engine 812 and Tanker 8 assisted Singerly Fire Company with a working structure fire on Hollis Circle in Elkton. Rising Sun units were back in service after approximately 2 hours.

Rescue Box 834: At 5:45AM, CFCRS handled a 2 vehicle MVC at Biggs Highway and Crothers road. Originally reported with entrapment. One driver needed assistance getting out of their vehicle. Assistant Chief 8 held command, Rescue 8, Engines 812 and 28, Ambulances 891 and 894, and Utility 18 all made the response. Both 891 and 894 transported one patient each to a local hospital.

Around 4:30PM today, CFCRS and EMS Mutual Aide from CCDES, North East Fire Company Inc. and Union Fire Company No. 1 ~ Oxford, PA handled a 3 vehicle MVC with multiple patients, and 1 trapped. Rescue 8, Engines 18 and 812 (28), Ambulance 893, Chief 8 and Utility 8 operated on scene.
