This years hiking stick shield was designed by a friend of former Mayor William Robertson. It will be similar the the eagle photo attached.

Forms can be picked up at The Rittman Recreation Center & Rittman City Hall!

🐻 Black Bear Sighting at William J. Robertson Nature Preserve

Earlier this morning, we had a confirmed sighting of a black bear entering the Route 57 (South Side) entrance of the William J. Robertson Nature Preserve.

At this time, we encourage all visitors to use extra caution while enjoying the preserve. Black bears are generally shy and prefer to avoid people, but they are still wild animals and should be given plenty of space.

If you encounter the bear:

• Stay at least 100 yards away whenever possible.
• Do not approach, feed, or attempt to attract the bear.
• Keep children close.
• Remain calm, slowly back away, and leave the area.
• Do not run or attempt to take close-up photos or videos.

The City of Rittman Parks & Recreation Department is monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates as needed. If you see the bear while visiting the preserve, please leave the area safely and notify the Parks & Recreation Department of the location and time of the sighting.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation as we work to keep both our visitors and Ohio's wildlife safe. Thank you for respecting the natural habitat of the animals that call the William J. Robertson Nature Preserve home.
