UPDATE — SUBJECT IDENTIFIED

Thank you to everyone who shared our original post and provided information regarding the August 18, 2026 hit-and-run collision.

The white Ford F-250 Super Duty and its driver have been identified.

Prior to our interview, the driver’s employer, from Pasco, contacted law enforcement and reported that an employee and company vehicle had been involved in the collision. We appreciate the employer coming forward and assisting with the investigation.

On August 26, 2026, Jesus Angel Gonzalez, 18, of Pasco responded to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Othello Substation and turned himself in.

Gonzalez had backed his work Ford F-250 at Bob’s Korner, he struck a diesel pump.

The damage resulting from the collision is estimated to be more than $36,000.

Based on the investigation, Gonzalez, was issued a criminal citation for Hit and Run — Unattended Property, RCW 46.52.010(2).

We want to thank our community for sharing the original information and helping us get the word out. Public assistance continues to be an important part of our investigations.

We also appreciate the employer for contacting law enforcement and helping bring this investigation to a resolution.

🎯 ANOTHER HUNTER EDUCATION CLASS IN THE BOOKS! 🦌

Today, we wrapped up the fifth and final Hunter Education class of the year that we have presented to the public through our partnership with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside WDFW and help members of our community learn the importance of safe, legal, responsible, and ethical hunting practices.

A special THANK YOU to all of our instructors and volunteers who have donated their own time to make these five classes possible. Your willingness to teach, mentor, and pass along your knowledge makes a difference and helps prepare the next generation of safe and responsible hunters.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to make the decisions our deputies face? Now is your chance to experience it for yourself!

This year, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office is bringing something NEW and interactive to the Wheat Land Communities’ Fair and the Othello Fair, our TASER TENT featuring Virtual Reality!

👮 SEE IT FROM A DEPUTY’S PERSPECTIVE.
⏱️ MAKE THE DECISIONS.

Using Virtual Reality (VR) technology, participants will step into realistic simulations based on situations law enforcement officers may encounter while doing their jobs. You’ll see firsthand how quickly a situation can develop, experience the decision-making process, and gain a better understanding of why the TASER is such a valuable tool for law enforcement.

This isn’t just a demonstration of equipment. It’s an opportunity for our community to experience situations from a completely different perspective and learn more about the tools, training, and decisions involved in keeping our communities safe.

Each VR demonstration session will be approximately 30 minutes long, with a maximum of 4 participants per session.

Stop by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office booth at the fair to make an appointment and reserve a time for your demonstration. Once you’re scheduled, you can continue enjoying the fair and return at your designated time.

⏰ Time slots and space are limited, so stop by our booth early to reserve your spot!

⚠️ Participants must be 18 years of age or older.

Come see something NEW at the fair, meet members of your Sheriff’s Office, and experience a side of law enforcement you normally don’t get the opportunity to see.

PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUEST

On 08/18/2026, at approximately 14:53 hours, a White Ford F-250 super duty was involved in a hit and run collision, before leaving the area without providing information.

The vehicle may have sustained damage to the driver-side rear taillight.

Deputies are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and or subject. If you recognize the vehicle pictured or have information regarding this incident, please contact Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing. The subject is being sought for suspicion of RCW 46.52.010 Hit and Run.

The Story Behind Our Badge

Every badge tells a story. Ours tells the story of service, tradition, and an unwavering commitment to the people of Adams County.

The six-point star has been the enduring symbol of the American Sheriff for generations. It represents one of the oldest traditions in law enforcement and serves as a reminder that the Office of Sheriff is unique, an office created to serve and protect the people while upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to design a new badge for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. While our previous badge had served the agency well, I believed it was time for a design that better reflected who we are today while honoring the proud history of the Sheriff’s Office. My goal was to create something timeless, professional, and instantly recognizable, a badge our deputies would wear with pride and our community would recognize with confidence.

The finished product exceeded my expectations. We regularly receive compliments from other law enforcement agencies and members of the public who appreciate its unique design and professional appearance. I’m proud that it has become a symbol people associate with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Every part of the badge has meaning.

The six-point star represents the proud tradition of the American Sheriff.

The “Sheriff” banner signifies the elected constitutional office and the solemn responsibility entrusted to the Sheriff by the citizens.

The State of Washington seal at the center reminds us that our authority comes from the United States Constitution and laws of the State of Washington, not from the badge itself.

The words “Adams County Sheriff’s Office” identify the community we are honored to serve every day.

The badge is more than metal worn on a uniform. It is a symbol of trust that must be earned every day through professionalism, compassion, and service.

We wear this star with humility because we know what it represents. It isn’t simply a symbol of authority, it is a symbol of responsibility. It reminds us that our greatest duty is to protect the people of Adams County, safeguard their constitutional rights, and earn the trust they place in us every single day.
