It is with deep regret that the River Edge PBA Local 201 announces the passing of retired Officer George Kolze. Kolze served the River Edge Police Department honorably from 1974-2000. There will be a wake held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Volk-Leber Funeral Home in Oradell from 4pm-8pm. May he rest in peace.

We received an overwhelming amount of toys once the toy drive was complete, and we are happy to announce we donated these toys to make a family’s Christmas a bit more special. Congratulations to the River Edge Police Department, under the leadership of Chief Walker, on maintaining AAA Gold Standards in Traffic and Safety.

Once again, AAA Northeast has recognized the department for its outstanding commitment to traffic safety and public education.

Sgt. Patrick Diamond, who oversees traffic enforcement/education while also serving in a supervisory role within the Patrol Division, accepted the award on behalf of the department.

In addition, SLEO III Officer Doug Ohlendorf was individually recognized by AAA Northeast for revitalizing the School Safety Patrol and for his continued dedication to bringing safety education programs to the River Edge Public Schools.

👏🚓 Thank you to all our officers for keeping River Edge safe.

Toys will be accepted until 12/17.

Today we celebrate Crossing Guard Jeff Del Prete, who is retiring after 16 years of dedicated service to the Borough of River Edge!
Jeff has been a familiar and friendly face at his post each morning and afternoon, ensuring our students and families cross safely—rain or shine. His professionalism, reliability, and care for the community have set the standard for excellence.

On behalf of the River Edge Police Department, we thank Jeff for his unwavering commitment to safety and his years of service to the Borough. He will always be part of the River Edge family.
