Early this morning, the River Falls Volunteer Fire Department responded to a single vehicle accident. The vehicle had one occupant, who sustained minor injuries. The driver was evaluated and released at the scene under their own supervision.

We'd like to thank Advanced EMS, Covington County Sheriff’s Department, and Covington Electric Cooperative for their support and collaboration in ensuring a safe and efficient response.

Remember, stay safe on the roads and always drive with caution!

It’s national Dispatchers week!!

Our department would like to recognize the outstanding work Covington County Comm Center does day in and day out. Every call we show up to, you will see the face of the men and women of our department but what you don’t see are the faces of the people who got us there.

Covington County Dispatchers are hands down the best! These men and women spend each day behind a closed door dispatching units all over the county to every emergency thrown their way. They handle these called with the upmost professionalism and promptness. We could not do what we do without them.

Thank you to the unseen hero’s. You men and women are the best!

Our hearts are heavily saddened by the recent passing of our member and brother, Robert Mitchell. He was vital asset to River Falls Volunteer Fire Department and Covington County, always willing to help those in need. Robert served our communities for many years as a volunteer firefighter. He also orchestrated countless fundraisers for those impacted by life's unfortunate circumstances.

For those unaware, Robert was the primary provider for his family. His precious wife, Shelia (known to most as Tee), has been fighting cancer and other health related issues. Robert never wavered in taking care of her. His servant's heart was devoted to helping anyone in need.

Our hope is to honor Robert's legacy by helping his family in the same way he has helped so many others.

On behalf of The Robert Mitchell Family, River Falls Volunteer Fire Department is accepting donations to alleviate some of the financial hardships Robert's family is facing. No amount is too small or large.

Donations can be sent to:

River Falls Volunteer Fire Department
P.O. Box 187
River Falls, Al 36476

Please make all checks payable to Mrs. Sheila Terry.

If unable to donate, please covet the family in prayer and share.

With Grateful Hearts,
River Falls Volunteer Fire Department

Yesterday we lost one of our own to a fatal motorcycle accident. Our hearts are broken, Mr. Robert was not only involved with our fire department but he was known for holding poker runs and benefits to raise money for families all over the county. He truly was a blessing to every single life he touched. Please pray for Mrs. Tee and Mr. Roberts family during this difficult time. We are sure going to miss him around the community and especially around the department.

It is with heavy and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our department mom, Debbie Blackwell Stacks. Debbie was the wife of RFVFD Chief Paul Stacks and mother of RFVFD Firefighters, Marcus and Lorrie Stacks. For many years she selflessly devoted her time to the deparment, it’s members, and the entire River Falls community, in many ways. Debbie declared every RFVFD member as one of her children and treated each as such. This loss is not an easy one. Please lift our department and the entire Stacks family up in prayer.
