Fireworks Safety During Summer Celebrations

Here are a few reminders before you light up the sky:

🔥 Never lean over a firework when lighting it
🐾 Keep pets safe — fireworks can cause them to bolt or get hurt
✨ Sparklers burn over 2,000°F — opt for glowsticks or poppers for young kids
💧 Soak used fireworks in water before disposal
🚫 Never relight a dud — it can still go off
📋 Know your local laws, especially if your area is under drought conditions
👂 Protect your hearing — fireworks can exceed 150 decibels

Today, 22 eighth graders from Roosevelt Middle School walked through our doors as students and left as Junior Firefighters. 🚒

As part of their Capstone Project, they spent the afternoon going hands-on — learning CPR, working a simulated patient call, dragging a rescue dummy, donning full turnout gear, and diving into fire investigation.

Watching the next generation show up with curiosity, courage, and heart reminded us exactly why we do this work.

Thank you to the students, their instructor, and everyone at RFFD who made the day possible. We hope to see some of you back here one day.
