XST-4201C Returns Home

After 15 days of operational assignments, Strike Team 4201C has returned home to Stanislaus County.

The strike team was initially deployed to the Gann Fire in Calaveras County, where crews assisted with structure protection, fire suppression, heat detection, and supporting community repopulation efforts. As the Gann Fire assignment concluded, the team was immediately reassigned to the Timber Fire in Monterey County, continuing their mission to protect lives, property, and communities.

Yesterday at approximately 3:00 pm, XST 4201C was officially disbanded in Stanislaus County. All apparatus and personnel have since returned safely to their respective agencies.

Strike Team deployments are made possible through California’s extensive mutual aid system. Through established mutual aid agreements, local fire agencies can quickly combine personnel and resources to respond to emergencies that exceed the capabilities of a single jurisdiction. This system allows agencies throughout California to support one another during wildfires, major incidents, and other emergencies.

While our crews are always prepared to protect our local communities, our commitment extends beyond our jurisdiction. When communities throughout California need additional resources, Stanislaus County Units answer the call. In turn, when we need assistance here at home, neighboring agencies are ready to support us.

We are proud of the men and women who represented their departments and Stanislaus County during this deployment. Their dedication, professionalism, and willingness to serve wherever they are needed are a tremendous example of the strength of California’s fire service mutual aid system.

Welcome home, XST-4201C.

*Strike Team 4201-C Update*

August 12, 2026 - 5:00 PM:
Units from Stanislaus County completed their assignment on the Gann Fire in Calaveras County. While being demobilized from the Gann Fire, Strike Team 4201-C was immediately reassigned to the Timber Fire in Monterey County.

Crews arrived in Monterey County at approximately 11:00 PM and spent the night in King City before reporting for their new assignment.

August 13, 2026 - 7:00 AM:
Strike Team 4201-C is now assigned to Division W on the Timber Fire in the Big Sur area. Crews will be working to prepare and defend structures while also constructing direct and indirect handline along the southern end of the fire.

Crews will be operating in steep, rugged terrain with thick brush and poison oak as they work to protect communities and slow the spread of the fire.

We appreciate the continued dedication and professionalism of our crews as they transition directly from one incident to the next to assist communities across California.

On July 26, 2026 at 11:27 PM, MST units were dispatched to a reported Commercial Working Structure Fire.

The first-arriving crews found a large commercial building with heavy fire showing. Due to the size of the structure and the volume of fire, firefighters initially operated in a Defensive Mode, utilizing large hand lines and master streams to contain the fire and protect nearby exposures. As the incident grew a second alarm was requested to bring additional personnel and apparatus to the scene.

After firefighters made significant progress knocking down the main body of the fire, the IC transitioned operations to the Offensive Mode. Crews were safely able to enter the structure and extinguish the remaining fire.

In total eight Engine Companies, four Truck/Quint companies, three Battalion Chiefs, and Medic 1 responded to the incident.

The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation by the Stanislaus Fire Investigative Unit.

On Sunday, Brush 23 return to the District after completing its assignment on the Chute Fire. After less than two hours back in service, the crew was dispatched alongside additional Stanislaus County resources to the Dove fire near Sonora as fire activity and resource needs continued to increase.

The rapid deployment is a testament to the high demand for wildland firefighting resources across the region. Brush 23 is assigned as part of a coordinated mutual aid response, working alongside firefighters from numerous agencies to support fire, suppression efforts, protect threatened communities, and assist with structural defense as conditions evolve.

Brush 23 is currently assigned to Division R and personnel are doing well.

Training for Tomorrow’s Wildfires

Last week, Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District’s Brush 23 participated in a county-wide wildland fire training exercise at Turlock Lake alongside fire agencies from across Stanislaus County.

Crews took part in multiple live fire training evolutions that reinforced critical wildland firefighting skills, including mobile pump-and-roll operations, firing operations, progressive hose lays, hand line construction, and strategic decision-making based on fire behavior, topography, and incident tactics. These realistic training scenarios provide valuable experience while strengthening the coordination and interoperability that are essential during large-scale wildland incidents.

As fire season continues, training opportunities like these ensure our firefighters remain prepared to respond safely, efficiently, and effectively when our communities need us most.

We would like to thank CAL FIRE TCU for participating in the training and for their continued partnership. Training alongside our regional partners strengthens relationships, enhances communication, and builds the teamwork necessary for successful mutual aid responses throughout Stanislaus County.

Thank you to SCFPD District Vice President Greg Bernardi for providing the great photos.

We are grateful to have been included in such a meaningful ceremony alongside members of the community, veterans, and their families. Memorial Day serves as an important reminder of the sacrifices made by those who gave so much in service to our nation.

Quint 22 was proud to stand in remembrance and pay tribute to the brave men and women whose legacy and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
