Thank You for Helping Us Fill the Truck! 🚒🎒

The Riverhead Fire Department would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came out today to support our Fill the Truck School Supply Drive and help local students prepare for the new school year.

A special thank you to Staples Riverhead for hosting the event and generously donating school supplies, and to the Manorville Fire Department Home Page and Manorville Fire Department Auxiliary for working alongside us to make the event a success. We also greatly appreciate Town of Riverhead Supervisor Jerry Halpin and Councilmembers Kenneth Rothwell, Bob Kern and Denise Merrifield for stopping by to show their support and for contributing school supplies to the drive.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the collected supplies will be donated for Riverhead Central School District students later this week.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make the day a success and supported our local students!

Motor Vehicle Accident on Long Island Expressway

On Wednesday, August 26, the Riverhead Fire Department responded to a rollover motor vehicle accident on the Long Island Expressway. RFD crews worked to stabilize the vehicle and perform extrication operations while EMS personnel provided patient care.

We would like to thank the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps (RVAC), Riverhead Police Department, Stony Brook Hospital EMS personnel, and the responding aviation crew for their assistance and cooperation on scene. Strong coordination between all responding agencies helped bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

2026 New York State Championship Drill

On Saturday, members of the Riverhead Fire Department traveled to Hempstead as our Ironmen Drill Team competed in the 2026 New York State Championship Drill.

Firematic competition has a long and proud history in Riverhead, with the Ironmen representing our department since 1935. Events like the State Championship bring firefighters from across New York together to continue that tradition of competition, teamwork and camaraderie.

Congratulations to the Central Islip Hoboes on being crowned the 2026 New York State Champions, and thank you to the West Hempstead, Hempstead and South Hempstead Fire Departments, along with everyone involved, for hosting a great weekend.

🎒Fill the Truck School Supply Drive 🚒

Join the Riverhead Fire Department and Manorville Fire Department on Sunday, August 30 from 2:00–6:00 PM at Staples Riverhead, 1087 Route 58 Riverhead, NY 11901, as we work together to Fill the Truck with school supply donations for local students.

An exciting step toward bringing Riverhead’s newest apparatus home.

Members of the Riverhead Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners, two members of the Chief’s Office, and representatives of Redbird Hook & Ladder Company recently completed the pre-delivery inspection of the new Ferrara HD-77 rear-mount aerial quint at the manufacturer’s facility in Louisiana. The two Chief Officers who attended are also members of the Redbirds.

We look forward to welcoming the new apparatus to Riverhead and sharing additional updates as it is delivered and prepared for service.

We are honored to be named the inaugural 2026 Rover Cup Fan Favorite Award winner!

Thank you to the Jamesport Fire Department for always inviting us and taking such great care of our members. We always have a great time, and our members look forward to the Jamesport parade and carnival each year.

Thank you to everyone who voted, and congratulations to East Marion and Flanders on placing second and third!

The winner of the inaugural 2026 Rover Cup Fan Favorite Award is Riverhead Fire Department!

Riverhead will be awarded the cup prior to next years parade where they will keep the cup until another Department knocks them off.

Well deserved Riverhead Fire Department!

Coming in a close second and third were East Marion Fire Department and Flanders Fire Department, NY-Keeper of the Pines.
