After more than a decade in the making, the Morton Amphitheater is now open.
Last night, Riverside celebrated opening night of a venue long in the works. The stage is set, the lights are on, and the doors are open. But before we look ahead, it's worth taking a moment to appreciate just how far this community has come to get here.
Mayor Kathy Rose said it best: "You don't have to be the biggest town on the map to make a big impact."
This venue didn't happen overnight. It took bold leadership, patient partners, and a community that refused to think small. It survived obstacles, delays, and even a global pandemic. It took the support of the Board of Aldermen, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the Morton Group, and an army of contractors, architects, engineers, and tradespeople who poured their work into every corner of this place.
And now it's here. A place where families will gather, where visitors will discover what makes Riverside special, and where memories will be made for generations.
Summer Breeze: a tribute to Yacht Rock kicked off opening night in style, and something tells us this is just the beginning.
