🌞 Taste of Summer starts today! 🍽️

We're excited to be participating in Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage, a delicious way to support both local nonprofits and restaurants!

If you're in Rancho Mirage or the surrounding communities, be sure to purchase your $10 Taste of Summer wristband and enjoy exclusive dining offers throughout the event. Every wristband purchased from VFC goes to VFC! This is the perfect excuse to explore and enjoy some of the area's best restaurants while supporting local youth in foster care.

A huge thank you to the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce for creating this wonderful opportunity for nonprofits like Voices for Children to raise funds and gain visibility while supporting eateries during the slower summer months.

If you have time to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 🌎🏆⚽ this summer, you already have the time to transform the life of a child in foster care!

By becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and dedicating just 10 hours a month — roughly the time it takes to watch 5 FIFA World Cup matches — you can ensure a vulnerable youth's voice is heard. As a CASA, you’ll spend consistent one-on-one time with a child to build a trusting relationship and understand their unique needs. Behind the scenes, you will collaborate with the professionals involved in their case, including social workers, teachers, attorneys, and therapists, and write impactful reports directly for the judge to ensure the court knows exactly what the child needs to thrive.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup features over 100 hours of game time. Putting just a fraction of that toward a child in your community can change their future forever. Bring your team spirit and sign up for an upcoming Information Session today to learn how you can advocate for a child in foster care 👉 https://buff.ly/M5l37Ty

Please join us in congratulating our CASA of the Month, CASA Marla!

When 15-year-old Kathi was moved to a new foster placement this past May, the very final month of the school year, she faced the overwhelming challenge of changing homes, neighborhoods, and schools all at once. Kathi explicitly shared her hope to finish out the term in a place where she felt safe and comfortable, rather than navigating the stress of a brand-new school just weeks before summer break.

Knowing how important this continuity was for Kathi's education and well-being, CASA Marla immediately sprang into action. While Kathi's social worker and caregiver worked on long-term logistics, CASA Marla stepped in to drive Kathi to and from school multiple times a week.

🚗 Those car rides became an anchor. Through simple, everyday interactions during school drop-offs and pick-ups, CASA Marla provided a steady, caring presence. She offered encouragement when Kathi needed it most, proving to her that she had someone firmly in her corner.

Thanks to CASA Marla’s dedication, Kathi didn’t have to say an abrupt goodbye to her friends and was able to successfully finish the year at her preferred school. Marla ensured Kathi felt seen, valued, and empowered during a major crossroads in her life.

Be inspired by CASA Marla’s journey with 15-year-old Kathi*

Please join us in congratulating our CASA of the Month, Lisa T.! 🎉

When CASA Lisa was paired with Jay*, a young boy navigating significant trauma while living in a residential therapeutic program, she made sure to look beyond the case files. Recognizing that his behavioral challenges were responses to deep trauma, CASA Lisa focused on building genuine trust. Even when Jay's outings were restricted, she visited him consistently at his facility and quickly discovered that beneath the difficult moments was a child who was deeply grateful for her presence and thoughtful gestures.

At a critical juncture in Jay's journey, CASA Lisa stepped up when he faced a major transition to a foster home nearly 100 miles away. She walked with him through the entire process, helping him move, reassuring him that her support would remain constant regardless of distance, and becoming a steady sounding board for his new caregiver during challenging moments.

Today, Jay is a thriving ten-year-old who loves outdoor adventures, Mario Kart, and all things Star Wars. CASA Lisa continues to stand by his side as a stabilizing force, supporting both Jay and his caregiver every step of the way and helping him maintain this positive placement. His progress is a powerful reminder that when a child has a dedicated advocate championing their worth, they gain the safety and stability they need to heal.

Last month, we had the opportunity to connect with community members across Riverside County at several wonderful events, including the Joint Chamber Mixer at the Palm Springs Air Museum, May is Mental Health Month- Art of Wellness, Riverside's IE Pride, and the Temecula State of the City.

These events allow us to raise awareness about the needs of youth in foster care, share the impact of our Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program, and build meaningful relationships with individuals and organizations who care about creating brighter futures for children.

Every conversation helps spread awareness about how community members can make a difference through volunteering, partnership, or support. We are grateful to everyone who stopped by to learn more about our work and to the event organizers for bringing people together in support of stronger, healthier communities.

We're already halfway through National Foster Care Month! 💙

Not only is this an important time to recognize all of the dedicated individuals who help support children in care, including our CASAs, it's also the perfect opportunity to raise awareness about our need for volunteers.

We are so grateful to our partners who are helping us spread the word about our program by displaying personalized table tents in their businesses. If you see one while you're out and about, take a photo and tag us! 🤳

This National Volunteer Week, we are honored to celebrate Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Kymberli, a 2026 Unity Awardee who proves that one person truly can change a life. Recognized at the 27th Annual Unity Awards Luncheon, CASA Kymberli embodies the spirit of the UNITY (United Neighbors Involving Today’s Youth) Coalition, which has empowered the children, youth, and families of the greater Corona-Norco-Eastvale area since 1996.

CASA Kymberli proves that you don't need a wide-open schedule to make a massive impact. Despite being a full-time professional, she has been the one constant presence for seven youth in foster care over the last five years. Whether she’s coordinating with therapists and teachers or taking advocacy calls from an airport terminal, she remains a steadfast advocate for meeting the needs of the youth she serves.

CASA Kymberli doesn't just meet children in their hardest moments; she champions the person they are destined to become and ensures they see their own incredible potential.

Please join us in the comments by congratulating CASA Kymberli on her 2026 Unity Award! ✨

Ready to make a difference? Riverside County is in urgent need of more dedicated advocates like CASA Kymberli. If you’ve ever wondered if you can balance a career with giving back, let CASA Kymberli be your inspiration! Visit speakupnow.org to learn how you can become a CASA volunteer today.
