Riverside County Youth Commission The Youth Commission focuses on anticipating the educational, recreational and cultural needs of you

The Riverside County Youth Advisory Councils consists of 210 high school students from throughout the County. Cumulatively, they volunteered for over 7,950 hours of community service during the past year. If those students were paid California’s minimum wage of $9/hour, they donated the equivalent of over $70,000 in free services to their communities. The website “Volunteering in America” places a

value of over $26 per hour for volunteer work, and using this figure the YAC donated nearly $210,000 this year. While in reality it is not possible to place a dollar value on the services they provide, it is important to understand that they are accomplishing real goals, learning incredibly valuable life lessons and making Riverside County a better place for all of us.

2026 YAC Youth Retreat Recap!
A huge thank you to the Riverside County Supervisors, the wonderful HWS team, and our YAC team for helping make this year’s Youth Retreat a success!
We are so excited to welcome back our returning YAC members and our new members for an exciting year ahead!
Thank you to our guest speakers, Ramon Ramos from The Exception, for sharing valuable opportunities with our students, and Minh Tran for educating our students on the Brown Act.
It was a fun-filled day with activities, a Committee Workshop, giveaways, and plenty of opportunities for our students to connect, learn, and grow together!

2025–2026 YAC Recap
What a year it’s been! 📆Across all five districts, our Youth Advisory Council members dedicated their time to serving their communities, leading meaningful projects, and creating opportunities to make a difference.
From hosting High School Madness, recognizing outstanding seniors, supporting local nonprofits, volunteering at community events, promoting mental health awareness, helping at Tour de Murrieta, participating in festivals and fundraisers, and creating spaces for connection through art and service. This year was filled with purpose, leadership, and impact.
None of this would have been possible without the passion and commitment of our YAC members, advisors, community partners, and supporters. Congratulations to our 2025–2026 Officers and Spirit Award recipients for your incredible leadership and dedication throughout the year.

Riverside County’s Youth Advisory Council hosted its 2026 Youth Summit, bringing together young leaders from across the county to explore the issues shaping their futures. Through engaging workshops and interactive discussions, participants gained practical skills, valuable resources, and inspiration to make a positive impact in their communities and future careers.

YAC students attended “A Day in Her Shoes” on March 6, 2026, gaining inspiration from powerful speakers, mentorship, networking, and interactive career exhibits, all highlighting limitless possibilities.

The 27th Annual Riverside County Youth in Government Day made a powerful impact in Riverside and the Fourth District, bringing together outstanding high school students from across Riverside County for a day of leadership, learning, and civic engagement.
Students stepped into the world of public service through hands-on job shadowing, department tours, and meaningful conversations with County professionals, exploring career pathways in public safety, health, administration, community services, and more. They didn’t just learn about local government, they experienced it firsthand!
This annual event continues to strengthen and inspire the next generation of leaders.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and the Riverside County Department of Workforce & Housing Solutions for your continued investment in our youth and future workforce.
