During the 1990s, the Ultra 30 Grand Prix Circuit (known as the Formula 1 of the yachting world) was held in the UK, and the 10-year series was at

that time the only televised race circuit on the BBC, incorporating an on-board cameraman in later years. The Ultra 30s competed in 30-minute races over very short courses close to the shore at speeds of over 25 knots, entertaining spectators and the more than 8 million television viewers who tuned in during the last 2 years of the series. Some of the world's best dinghy sailors and Olympic medalists skippered the Ultra 30s including Ben Ainslie, Eddie Warden Owen, Rob Greenhalgh, and many others. In the U.S., similar boats called Ultimate 30s competed in the televised Ultimate Yacht Race series in the late 1980s.

Team Zombie is a phenomenal boat and has given us some thrilling rides and experiences that we will never replicate on any other keel boat.

Staffing the boat has become increasingly more difficult in the last two years. This year we were plauged with sailing with two few crew and quite a few no shows.

Last Monday I donated TZ to Oakcliff. I will miss sailing TZ with you all. Thank you so very much for your efforts over the years, it has been one hell of a ride.

The end of the TZ program has allowed another chapter to begin. I have purchase a Moth and have been having some serious fun reaching crazy speeds and pulling off foiling maneuvers.

There are several others that have raced on TZ that are foilers. Eric Magnusen, Tyler Paige, Vanessa Ampelas, Sam Blouin and Scott Bursor all have boats and are loving it. There are still several other locals that have purchased boats.

Thank you again for all your efforts and dedication to one of the coolest 30 footers in the world.

Went to UK sails yesterday to view our new sail plan. They are looking beautiful and powerful. Quite a square top on the main, mini one on the jib. Port side of the sails are solid gray tafetta, they actually look slicker than stb side. Will take delivery next week.

TZ is in her summer dry stall spot now awaiting final finishing details for the season. Expecting to practice on the water in 2-3 weeks. Exciting times ahead!

New Sails for TZ are on order from UK Sail loft in City Island. Carbon load path strands, gray tafetta, and black Dacron reinforcements will make a nice look. Lighter than previous Quantum sails, years of sail design technology from old sails and powerful design features will make these sails a good performance jump over the previous set.
