We need our Ames families to help make the Fall Book Fair a success! Parent volunteers are needed for setup on September 8 and to help with transactions and breakdown during the Book Fair on September 9 & 10. 5th graders can also volunteer and get some experience taking credit card payments at the registers!

The Ames Fall Book Fair is an important fundraiser that helps the PTA provide meaningful experiences for our students, including field trips, One Book One School, the Science Fair, educational assemblies, and so much more! This year, we’re excited to partner with local bookstore Anderson Books to bring an even wider selection of books to Ames!

Whether you can give an hour or help for an entire shift, your time makes a difference. Every volunteer helps us create a successful Book Fair and, in turn, brings more opportunities to our students. Sign up for a shift at https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/701083822020/true #/invitation

As a reminder, there are four half day institute days for D96 in the 2026-27 school year: October 30th, January 28th, April 23rd, May 14th. Hauser and the elementary schools will dismiss students at 11:20AM.

Riverside Parks & Recreation and District 96 are partnering to provide FREE half day coverage from 11:20AM-3:00PM on these dates. After care can be added from 3:00PM-6:00PM for $17.

Register through Parks & Rec by the first of the month at 11:00AM (October 1, January 1, April 1, and May 1).

"Hi Ames families. Welcome to our 26-27 school year. The PTA is so excited for the year we have planned for all the Ames families! We worked hard all summer making sure everything is great from Dolphin Dash, Trunk or Treat, Dining with Dolphins, Fleetwood Skate night and so much more! Ames students continued to celebrate the new school year with a back-to-school assembly today! Matt Wilhelm performed his amazing BMX tricks while delivering an important anti-bullying message: stand up for others, stand up for yourself, and be an everyday hero. Matt shared his story, from being bullied to being a USA National Champion and a Guinness World Record Holder. Thank you Matt for the fun and inspiring assembly, we’re glad you didn’t crash on top of Mr. D!! 🐬 Matt Wilhelm

The Ames Fall Book Fair is more than a great opportunity to stock up on books—it’s an important fundraiser that helps the PTA provide meaningful experiences for our students, including field trips, One Book One School, the Science Fair, educational assemblies, and so much more!

We squeezed so much fun into the short week! It was a busy one with the teacher meet & greet, the back-to-social social, our first PTA meeting of the school year, a special breakfast for teachers and staff, and of course the first day of school for our Dolphins!

Thank you to all the families who came to the social, ordered spirit wear and donuts, and donated snacks for the staff lounge. It’s been a fantastic start to the school year! 🐬
