Riverside PD is hiring, and if you're already a certified officer, this could be your next move.

We have four open police officer positions with a salary range of $65,000-$92,574. Certified officers also qualify for a $10,000 hiring incentive, paid out after FTO completion and again after your first year on the job.

You'll get every other weekend off, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, and 100% covered health, life, disability, and retirement, plus a $840/yr wellness reimbursement. Officers can also grow into specialized units like K-9, SWAT, CSI, and Criminal Investigations.

Please welcome Officer Cody Chandler to the Riverside Police Department!

Cody was officially sworn in on Wednesday, August 12, and his parents had the honor of pinning on his badge.

Before joining our department, Cody served as an infantry lieutenant in the Missouri Army National Guard and worked as a security supervisor overseeing a team of officers.

Some days on the job are routine, but other days come down to a few critical minutes.

A car going south on I-635 near Horizons Parkway went off the road and down a 300-foot embankment on March 22, 2026 just after 1AM. Officer Carter Johnson of the Riverside Police Department and Sgt. Jessica Duda of the Platte County Missouri Sheriff's Office were among the first on scene.

Before EMS could arrive, they applied a tourniquet, even though the patient couldn't communicate what had happened or how badly they were hurt. Those first few minutes made the difference.

This week, NKC Health honored both officers with a ceremony at Riverside City Hall. Dr. Kyle Harken, a trauma surgeon at NKC Health, put it simply: "They saved her life. Without the tourniquet, who knows what could have happened."

Thank you to NKC Health for this recognition, and to everyone who came out to support Officer Johnson and Sgt. Duda.
