San Bernardino SAY no to the Model Cities Initiative Grant!!

Originally scheduled as a consent calendar item for the Aug 5th meeting, the City of San Bernardino was going to entertain voting to move forward to apply for the Department of Justice’s Model Cities Initiative Grant this afternoon. Yesterday afternoon the City Clerk notified the public that this item was pulled from the agenda.

We strongly encourage the City of San Bernardino to abandon the effort to apply for the Model Cities Grant and make a strong commitment to protecting residents from immoral and predatory tactics from the Federal government. Public safety should take into account the well being of the community!

How you can take action:
📍Attend the the August 5th City Council meeting and leave a public comment
📍Reach out to your elected official via phone and or email

On Thursday, July 23rd, join People’s Collective for EJ Concerned Neighbors of Bloomington & the rest of the community in their efforts to push back against an industrial development that displaces community members. The San Bernardino Planning Commission will vote in practicality to move forward with the Bloomington Business Park industrial development.

We are finally here! Earlier today, the Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 to support the creation of an Ad Hoc committee to evaluate oversight for the Sheriff’s department. This is a very important first step to bringing structural reform to Riverside County Sheriff’s department; however, this is not the only action that needs to happen.

We look forward to seeing the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and our community partners such as .ca to continue to develop and implement stronger accountability measures within the Riverside County Sheriff’s department.

It is imperative that Riverside County Board of Supervisors do what’s right for the dignity of human life, justice, and creating a system of accountability. Our community partners ca have been advocating for years that the Riverside County Sheriff’s department needs to have oversight.
